PArt 2 - the Urban Jungle adventure

FROM JULIETTE

It's me again. I had never write a blog before but I really enjoy it. First of all because It's got a special purpose (improving our English), second of all, it gives me a sense of bond with you all and I love it. I'm so happy to share my adventure with you and feel that you are going through similar situation or just enjoying reading it.
Samantha describes my adventure pretty well when she say 'This experience is usually both difficult and rewarding, and you always grow from it as a person.' This is absolutely true.I feel so much stronger now.

After few months working with temporary job agencies, I finally got a job for three months in an NGO called MRG.Their aim is to fight for Minority rights around the world. A similar organization would be Amnesty International but on a bigger scale. I really enjoyed it.I was working with people from all around the world and learned a lot about minority rights. unfortunalty, it was a short contract. Then, I got this job at the BBC radio and I believe this is the most amazing thing which happened to me since I moved here in London. I still can't really realize how lucky I am but when I share my story with you and get your feedback, it's how I realize. Thank you all.

How is it to work in such a big world reknowned media organization? It's great, exciting and also really hard. Probably not for everyone but for me, it is.
Oh, one important point I forgot to tell you is that I work in the News and Currents Affairs department for the World Today programme. That's why It's so hard sometimes and also because I've set up my goal quite high and I have to be patiente. Becoming a journalist, I mean an investigative news journalist, is really hard work and moreover, much looked after.

But keep an eye on BBC TV documentaries, you might see my name one day! Probably in five or ten years time..... It's so nice to dream a little bit, isn't it?

I've notice that lots of comments are from brazil. I've never been to brazil but I'd love to go one day and travel down the Amazon river. and also to China, and to India, and to Cambodia, and in fact.........round the world.

See you tomorrow
Juliette

dear samantha, first of all congratulations for your job and good luck for your aim. actually, i think and i suppose everybody must have aim to acheive something, because without that its sth like we're driving car without knowing the right direction to go. so, carry on. bye.

Thank you once more for your post, Juliette. Well, now I've got one more reason to watch BBC documentaries, that is to read your name one day ! All the best

Hi,Juliette Welcome aboard to this worldwide famous blog and I am a bit late to say "HELLO".It's great to read about your journey and the more I read your story the more I get interested. When I came to England from Korea I was fourtyish and hardly spoke any English.I got a culture shock, language barrier, homesick and foodsick.I nearly gave up living in this country but I wouldn't want to admit the failure to my family and specially myself.I used to be a big city girl and I loved and enjoyed the hustle and bustle of life, but i live in peaceful and tranquil country side.I am sorry your relationship didn't work but my love to a man(now he is my husband)made me so brave and the relationship grew me stronger and stronger every day. The strength pushed me to keep on living here.I think there will be no going back and no regret. As I got over my problem living abroad I am sure you can overcome your difficulties.good luck and I wish your dream will come true.

Hello Juliette! Indeed it´s really nice dream sometimes.I hope you reach all your goals and someday maybe you come to Brazil and travel down Amazon river. Regards.

Hello, there! I do enjoy reading about your adventures in London. It's nice to hear you say you work helping people from all around the world. You have to work very hard if you wanna be a journalist (or wanna get any degree), but I'm sure you're very strong and you will be a very good journalist. All of us, hope seeing your name on BBC News, soon. It seems you enjoy travelling, have you travelled around England? Wich cities did you visitit? Wish you all the very best, Cheers!

Hello Juliette, I read your story today,it was vary intersting and good for learners like me.It is great to spent your valuble for learners around the world. Thanks & Regards,

Hello Juliette, It is very exiting to read your blog. I look forward to seeing your name in the BBC TV. You are always welcome to India. It is an amazing place with many languages, food, culture and colours. And the best thing about India is everyone wants to be educated. Even poor people try their best to send the children to school. And if you look into the childrens' eyes you will find that everyone has a big dream. I have lived and worked in the UK. So I can tell you it is more difficult to live in cities like Mumbai in India as you will find traffic jam and lots of people eveywhere. And you will get a culture shock because you would be coming from England where people are very polite, caring, sincere, honest, punctual. I shifted from a small town to a city like Mumbai and settled down. I totally agree with you about the adventure of living in a big city. We learn lots of new things in big cities. Like you, sometimes I also feel like running away from the city and hide in a peaceful village. English is so widely used in India that we never feel that English is a foreign language. We make mistakes, mix it with local languages but its a part of our lives. Can you believe English is a language that binds people of different states in India as we have around 20 local languages in India. Most of the people in South India cannot communicate in Hindi, which is India's national language. The only way to communicat to them is English. Recently one newspaper has been published where the language is English and Hindi (They call it Hinglish). The reason behind this publication is common people are used to communicate in a language that is a combination of Hindi and English. So it would be convenient for them to read news in that language. Thank you very much BBC learning english where we can interact with people like Juliette.
