An ordinary life
Dear Stephen,
I had a great weekend. I relaxed with my mum at home on Saturday. But she made a noisy waking me up in the morning. She did the housework as usual. But she did more works because I didn’t wash bedclothes while she’s away. I woke up in the morning as washing machine was loud. My room is next to the washing room. It’s quite old that my mum bought it at least 7 years ago. It’s getting out of order because it began to sound noisy 3 months ago. My mum doesn’t want to buy new one before it no longer work. She will probably fix it again even if it will be stopped working. She doesn’t spend money to buy new one. She’s staying with my youngest sister’s house for next 5days because my sister needs baby sitter. My sister’s daughter is almost 4 months and she is too small to send a nursery. It’s a social problem that we don’t have sufficient social welfare system, especially for married woman who works for a company. Most companies don’t have their own a nursery school for employee’s children even the company’s employees are over then 100 people. Because that is not company’s duty, building a nursery school for them. My mum takes quite heavy job to care of her grand daughter. How about UK? Is there sufficient system for small kids?
These days I lost my taste. I don’t know why I hesitated to eat anything. I ate small brunch with my sister on Saturday morning. I didn’t eat anything until at night. My mum suggested me to have boiled lettuces with rice but I wouldn’t it. I liked to eat fried chicken suddenly and my mum called to deliver it at a chicken store. But I just ate 2 pieces of chicken with beer. I fell asleep quickly then. I woke up 11 PM again and I thought it might be had a sleeping drug. I watched American TV show, 24, season 2 on the internet. Have you seen it? Now it’s showing season, 6 in US. I haven’t seen it yet. I’m excited to watch the show. My mum sadly watched me as I was absorbed in the TV show. She said you seem to lose your way except watching TV. Maybe it’s right but it’s really interesting and Kiefer is fantastic actor.
By the way, when you started your blog with the weather I just read it’s typical English weather. But Saturday morning, I watched west Europe’s terrible storm on the TV news. It’s hasn’t have such a big storm for last 16 years. I’m sorry to hear about that. I hope everything will be fixed soon.
I’ve got home right now. I started writing it after finished working at the office. My colleagues were out of office very quick when it’s time to 6:00 PM. I’m listening to easy listening pops on the radio. One thing that I like listening the guitars pieces, Asturias by Albeniz. A friend recommended me to listen to the music last year. He wanted to be played the piece by the piano.
Regarding The observer’s script, I’m not a typical person as it mentioned. Of course, I’m not English but life is almost the same whether you live in UK or I live in Korea. I examined how I live long 5 years ago. It’s about the stress rate at works and life. It’s was a terrible result because I will be lived only 72 years according to it. I’m the shortest life in my circle. Everybody told me I had to come down and needed to think not seriously. I don’t care because I still have over 40 years. It’s enough. Am I silly?
I’m quite sad when I read your blog that you will be ended it. Do you stop it because you go to Kilimanjaro? I hope you come here again when you finished traveling.
You’re a very good teacher for me and everyone who learns English on BBC.
I went to the cinema to see the movie, little Ms. Sunshine last night. It’s about an extraordinary American family. The member of the family has each different character and they finally understood and accepted differences when it’s ended. I love this dramatic and human story. Each characters had own problems and they found out the family’s warm love. I bet you love it as well.
Have a good time!!

Hello soyoung, It's nice to know you had a relaxing weekend. Here in Brazil there's not much help for working mothers either. I've never heard of a company that offers service like that for their employees. Usually mothers have to rely on their own mothers or family or sometimes friends or even baby sitters to solve this problem. It's sad, but it's true. I hope it changes in the future as we think more about problems like that. I think human kind is evolving in some ways, don't you think. At least I hope so. See you.
Hi Soyoung, I am glad to hear that you had a nice weekend. Your Saturday life (Mum makes noise, also washing mashine noise)reminds me my student years. I used to live with my relatives when I studied at the university. I liked to sleep in the morning until 11,12 but they woke up early morning and made a noise like your mum made. I love my mum most, she is outgoing and soft-hearted. It is increadable if there is a proplem in family mum is already there, ready to take care and arrange everything. Sometimes it seems interfering us but I believe mum does things from her heart. Some of my friend told me that when you have a baby and love him then you can notice how much your mum love you. Do you argee with this? I am looking forward to your interesing blog. All the best.
I watched Little Miss Sunshine last year, and I thought amazing. It was the one of the best movies that I watched last year. There are many scenes that make you laugh and others that almost make you cry. It´s really worth watch it. And by the way the little girl is so cute. Don´t you think? Regards.
Hello, Lee It is nice to learn that you have a great weekend. You are feeling fresh as you have written a long blog. Your teacher is counting the days to complete this exercise. I appreciate the hard work of both as it is not easy for you to write every day and maintain the blog while having job that demands full concentration and urgent response. Similarly, the work of Stephen to point out the mistakes, write them and especially explaining them in writing is quite difficult. However, to me blog reading and giving comments has become an addiction. Please ask your mother to replace the washing machine so that at least you could have lie in on weekends. Why you lost your taste I didn't understand. What is next? I am waiting. Farida
Hi Soyoung, What is the reason for loosing your appetite? Are you alright now? Every working woman in the families is facing the same kind of problem as your sister. It is quite difficult time for the elders (grandmas) to take care of their grand children. It is also their responsibility to rear the children and help the daughters. It won’t be a much problem for 5 days to help your sister. Some time your sister needs a help of your mother for longer time to take care of the children. At that time what will your mother do? Will she allow you to be alone at home? I don’t think any of the companies is offering welfare centre for children in my country.
hi,soyoung i am sorry to hear you lose your appetite.I think you have worked too much, but you've got your mum now. I assume that she will cook very special meals for you. Mum's cook is the best remedy for returning an appetite.Anyway you asked about A welfare benefit.I started sending my son to a nursery school when he was about two and half years.we had to pay the nursery's fee until he was 3 years old after that my son was entiled to get a welfare benifit from the gorvernnent.it paid the fee before he went to a primary school.he could go to a nursery school 5 times a week for every 3 hours.i hope you'll be better tomorrow and have a good day!
I'm so glad to read your words. Now,I work as computer guy for a company from UK. But my life is boring,so I always get more drinks with my friends. Obviously,it's in danger of my health. However,I am trying to give it up,I really envy your life cause you are so happy.
These blogs are really interesting.
