Favorite Foods
There is student’s winter vacation in korea until early of next month. I’m living nearby boy’s high school, many students are packed in the bus before I take it. I’m quite annoyed because I have to run and push other people to stand up my steps on the bus. It’s called mini-bus that is driving away for short distance and have seats around 15.
I’m going to subway station by mini-bus and transferred to subway to get off my office.
I’m almost exhausted when I’m getting off the subway that is really packed as if I’m a drowing man. I can’t move any steps to the next and people on the subway is quite sensitive because of the same reason as me.
Fortunately it’s much better than school days because no student on the bus and subway. Also my journey is shorter than before. I’ll be safe to take bus and subway for student’s vacation.
What’s your main transportation to move your way? Are you driving a car to the destination?
I’m going to talk abut my favorite foods. Have you ever eaten any Korean foods? Most western people like to eat bulgoki. It’s very popular that you taste it Korean restaurant in your country if you have it.
For me, my favorites are jajangmyun, samgyupsal, jokbal and dukboki…
There are strange words to you because of Korean.

I drank soju and eun-kyung wrapped jobal into lettuce.
I met one of my friends at myungdong yesterday. We’re going to shopping to buy her friend’s birthday gift at the department store. After that, we went to jokbal store to have a dinner. There are various foods to taste what you like to eat at myungdong which is very famous area for citizen and tourist.
Can you guess what jobal is? It’s foot of fork. Is it strange to eat foot? No, taste is very nice and tender. I think if you have a change to eat it, you’ll be really liked to. I drank soju which is very traditional Korean alcohol and it made a harmony to eat with other meal especially dinner.

About jajang myun, we believed that it’s from china but Chinese foods don’t mention it. it’s transferred to Korean’s taste and developed a few difference. Tastes are a bit sweet and salty and color is black because of black bean source. Price is quite cheaper around 4,000won (2.25pound) per a plate.
After we ate it, her boyfriend came to pick us up and took me at home by car.
By the way she’s going to get married this March. It’s not long time going out with him that they met last October at first. both parents drove them to get married as soon as possible because of age.
Congratulation to my friend, Eun-kyung!!

Hello, again I absolutely understand the chaos on a bus or a tube in Seoul.I really feel for you and I don't blame you for your grumbling. I used to take a bus or catch a tube to get to work and I was not happy at all with being a victim of circumstance.Anyway, you make my mouth water and the picture of food make me homesick.l used to go out with my colleges or sisters who worked with me and drank Soju and had lots of Samgyupsal, Jokbal and so on.... My son and husband who is an English also love eating Bulgoki with lettuces.I wish I were in Korea now and had Jokbal as I can't get any the sort of food here. thank you for your post and have a wonderful day!!!

Three words about it:informative, interesting, easy to understand. You've done a great job! I wish you good luck with other publications! What's more..At the moment I can't help desiring to try any Korean foods! It was so lively described by you..Oh I am suferring..In my town there is no Korean restaurant so I must control my desire. Once again thanks for you blog.. and say best regards to Eun-kyung!
Hi Soyoung It’s nice to see the photographs of the food items in the restaurant. It’s seems to me very delicious. I ever heard none of the Korean food items you mentioned. I tasted some of the Chinese food items in the Chinese restaurant. Now a day’s Chinese restaurant in our cities become very popular. Many people are like to go and have a dinner. After seeing the photographs I tempted to taste it. I think in your place most people are preferred to take buses or trains for transportation. How much population in your city? We use buses for our mode of transportation. It is always crowded like yours. Particularly in our cities, in the peak hours buses and trains jammed with crowd. Some times it will be very difficult to enter into it. I had terrible experience when I visited Chennai last month. Do you know share auto? This mode of transport has become very popular nowadays. Passengers share the cost. The auto fare also not much high. The auto driver fixed the fare. They will collect the fare to the passengers depend upon their destination.
Great pics!!! mouth watering!
Hi Soyoung! Food…one of my favourite topics. I like cooking, eating and trying new meals. I have never eaten any Korean food because we do not have any Korean restaurant here leastways I have not find it yet. Korean food and Slovak or Hungarian food are very different as I see in your pictures. We had a topic about different kinds of food in my English lessons last year. We also read about a Korean meal, called Kimchi. What is this meal made of? How is it prepared? Is it possible to send us the recipe for Kimchi or some simple recipe for Korean food? I would like to try some of them if I will be able to buy all ingredients. Thanks.

Good morning Soyoung, It's my first time to react in this blog. I'm so glad to have news about South Korea. For me, South Korea is very nice country. I've been there in 1998 for 1,5 month (from half of april to end of may, the wether was fine). I've been living in Chong-ju in the center of the country. It's was when i was student. I've bee living in my friend's family. I'd visit Seoul for a day. It's a very clean city compare to Paris. I'm very glad how you talk about South Korean Food. When I' was there i'd loved it, but the only problem i had was about bread. I live in France and here we eat bread in every meal. That's not the case in South Korea. It's was so strange for me. When talking about South Korea food you didn't talk about kimpa, this kind of "bread" with rice and seaweed. How about it. Could you talk about it, and could you explain me how to cook it. I'll be glad to cook it for my friends. Thank you. I'm sorry for my english. As you will see, my english is very poor, and i'm in this bolg to improve it, by having dialog and by reading new from the world. By waiting your answer. Happy new year and best regards Didier
It's very pleasure to see a writing written by a Korean. As a same Korean person, I think we must promote our dishes. WE MUST HAVE A WORLD-WIDE REPUTATION, LIKE JAPAN DOES.
Thanks for all your contributions. This blog has now closed and can no longer accept new comments.
