Happy new year, everyone!!
I haven’t imagined that I could win blog competition this month. I was surprised that William called me to inform that I won the competition. I felt that I’m very lucky to get into BBC student blog. Thank you for the opportunity to tell my stories to everyone who is learning English through BBC.
I’d like to introduce myself to you. My name is Soyoung Lee. I’m living in Seoul, S.Korea. I’ve been working for a freight forwarder, TNT Freight management korea since I joined it last year. I’m almost working in this filed around 10years.
You can ask me whether I’m satisfied with my job or not. I could say that I like sort of them but sometimes my workload is heavy to set up. Customer service is sometimes hard to follow up our shipper’s request because their focus is not the same as mine. Each shippers called every minutes that they pushed me to give instruction even if I didn’t have it yet. I’m bothering on such a huge calls and request. But I feel it's a good job because I help others who need to introduce shipping arrangement and customs regulations for exporting countries, to export their shipments and arrange it convenience.
Do you have any acknowledge about freight forwarder?
I’m handling for export & import shipment. I’m following up my customers request that they like to ship out their shipment to overseas. I offer the rate and draw up B/Ls and communicate with overseas co-workers. I’m writing e-mails in English everyday. It’s typical job to me. But my English pattern is almost same that I don’t use very many vocabularies because we communicate simple sentences.
I have to stop writing about my job because I’m feeling being presentation.
How do you learn English except learning English on BBC?
By the way, I have to say to you at first, Happy new year everyone!!
What did you do new year’s eve? Is there any special ceremony?
Tell me what you did.
We’re celebrated New year with friends and family. People’s going to city hall to enjoy fire works and The Bell tower at Jongno to listen to new year’s bell. Many famous singers are preparing the gigs for new year. Parents went to The Bell tower with children to show new year’s celebration.
I was at home with my father. We both had a dinner but I made a toast by myself. Did it sad to me? No, I didn’t feel. I wrote to my year’s resolutions while I was listening to the radio. It was nice to me because I haven’t had a time to think about myself properly. Tomorrow, I’m going to tell you about new year’s resolutions.
Tell me what’re you going to do this year? Don’t be worry about breaking it. It’s always difficult to keep on our minds but it’s much better to make for much better future. As long as you remember your plans for new year you'll do your best!!

Hi Lee, good to have you here on the blog. I was one of the contestants and I lost:(. But hey, congrats!! My new year was the most boring ever. When the rest of the world was having a bash and getting drunk, I was, guess what, preparing for a job interview! Not the best way to kick off a new year. I resolved to get a good job and write a play for the bbc international play competition. I should stop, keep bloggin!
Hello friends! First of all, happy new year to everybody and to Soyoung Lee! Here in Spain we celebrate New Year´s eve in a particular way. We eat twelve grapes while the bells are introducing the new year. For each stroke, we eat one grape. If you can eat all the twelve grapes, the new year may bring you all your wishes. It´s said this ceremony started when some companies encouraged people to eat grapes because of the overproduction of grapes that year. I´m learning English in a course at university. I go to class twice a week and our teacher, Anna from London, told us we should visit BBC learning English. Since then, I read articles, enjoy London Life and practice my writing. This year I hope to have more time to myself and my friends. Best wishes to everybody.
Hey, Soyoung! Happy New Year to you too! It`s wonderful holiday, I think! And it`s very interesting to read something about human from S.Korea - it`s so far from me! I`ll read all this with interest!!!))) Good luck!

Hi Soyoung, nice to hear from you! I think it must be a unique experience to be a student blogger and you really seem to be happy. But we, readers, have also our own fun! It’s so great to get known new, real persons from different countries and cultures every month. Sometimes I feel as if I set off for a long journey .. a few days ago I was in Lima thinking about Federico, gold, Don Kichote .. and now, the next stop is in Seoul. Soyoung, you seem to be delicate and very modest - are you really a person like that? I wonder who are your favorite authors, what sort of music do you listen to, how do you relax, what makes you feel happy – lots of questions, don’t take it too seriously. And replying to you question, my New Year resolution as an English learner is to start writing an English dairy but will I endure? I am also going to look for more than just mirror, opportunities to speak English – still I am not sure if I manage to. Best,
Hello Hello Dear Soyoung! I followed the advice somebody had writen lately. I took all the month letters into the hand and was reading them in my flat till 1,30 a.m. New Year´s Day, while my sister was watching Tv ( her boys needed her flat-for the entertainment). It was not only the GREAT pleasure and experience but very useful. What was the reward? I was speaking alone at my lesson. Finaly! Was that the wildest night enough? I hope for the next help to everyone. Yet we need so much to clarify. Would I ever have be able to succeed without the Great Help BBC!Marianna from Slovakia
