Chapter 22. My hobbies.
Hello there.
Tricia, I'm very glad for You to be met with Your parents. I think it's very important and I wish much happy time for you to be together. And say Hello from all the learning English community to Your parents. They have given us such a good teacher :).
Thanks for the advice about speaking, it's very useful. But, Tricia, what do You think is more important - to speak (and write) more with mistakes or less but thoroughly?
Today I'm going to proceed the topic of my hobbies I started yesterday and tell about some more hobbies I have. I'll tell you about two of them - playing the guitar and painting.
I started to play the guitar when I learned at university. I was inspired by a friend of mine who had been playing the guitar for a couple of years by that moment. And he tought me. For the first time the friend did it simply by putting my fingers into the correct place on the finger-board and told me which string to pull. Then I learned notes and started to play myself. At the beginning I used the guitar as an accompaniment for singing but after while I just played guitar compositions. There was a period when I spent significant time for guitar playing but now I do it from time to time.
Another my hobby was painting. When I was a schoolboy I posessed with art. Perhaps if there was no mayhem in our country then, I would be an artist. Our friends were getting married that time and I was a poor student, so I pained pictures and presented them as a wedding gift. And I presented my pictures for birthdays and other events. That was fun. Present days, unfortunately I have no conditions for painting so I don't do it. But I still hold a hope in my heart to return to this occupation in the future.
Some of you can tell that I'm a man of many talents and that it's good. But you know what, currently I don't think so. I wish I was a man of one talent which I could solely develop. Instead I have to share my free time (which is not so big) among several occupations. And I still can't choose one, I love them all, don't blame me. What do you think of it? Maybe you have an advice for me? I would appreciate it.
Alex.

My english isn't good but I hope you'll be able understand what I want to say :)Unfortunately I have the same "problem"- to many hobby's. I think that it's impossible to be good in many things. And it's depressing for me..I'm physicist, i love painting, dancing, reading books and many other things. But now I have 8- month baby, and may free time disapeared :) When I have an hour I don't know what to do with it, which hobby dedicate...undoubtely it's better develop one or two skills (talents). But how to be sure which one is the most important for us????
hi!Alex i am jealous of you and your abilities to do many things as your hobbies.i have tried very hard to keep my hobbies like reading books, collecting stamps and cycling so on... but i soon feel bored and give up.i now try to introduce many things to my son, who is 4years old and i hope he can choose right ones for himself in future. i really want my son can play an musical instrument and paint like you.i always believe if someone could understand arts her/his life would be full of imagination, excitement and understanding many different thoughts and souls. i don't think you have to decide which hobby is best for you.if i were you i would enjoy the time thoroughly. nice to meet you! see you again!!!!
Hello Alex you look like Borat from this movie, but it is ok. Everybody have to had any hobby that make your life better. Keep the fight man...
Hello, there. You'r good Alex. That's what I've been longing, but it's just seems I don't have any hobby. My only hobby actually is calling my boyfriend every night before bed time, and his, of course, is to be waked up by the phone every morning. Don't be bothered that you've got variety interests and hobbis and talents Alex. It's not annoying at all and you don't have to concentrate your spare time only on one of your talents, try to develop few of them at the same time. Keep going and be happy:))
Hello Alex. English language is difficult to learn, but the colloquial aspect of it, makes it even harder. Any person who speaks Russian will say that it is really difficult to grasp the complexities of the language. But nevertheless one must not be afraid of making mistakes and try to communicate as much as possible. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . All the best, Alex.
