Episode2: The Lesson

Hiya!
Today I finished my work a bit late as I prepared the presentation for the meeting next week. Then I went straight to home immediately to update my blogs. I am thinking about how to manage my time at the moment because I have such a lot of things to do.

By the way,Do you still remember what I left in the first entry? I told you that I got an interview in the second week. Before we are going further, there is something I have got to tell you.It might sound weird or completely silly but when you apply for a job in Thailand if you know someone who works and has great power in the company you applied to, you will get the interview or even that job easier. I don't know how to call some kind of this behaviour in English. I must confess that I was the one who committed such a terrible thing like that. Since I worried that I would not get a job at that time, I asked my mom to help me. She had to ring her friends and asked for their helps. So my interviewing experience started here.

It is a commercial institute. I know you may have a question in your mind. what would I do there? of course, I was so curious too but as you knew, it was because my mom's friend invited me.LoL But everything proved that I have lacked of potential to take this job. They asked me many questions about finance,stock...and guess what? I knew nothing. It was absolutely embarassing, wasn't it?

Oh I just remeber about the other experience that I won't forget for the rest of my life.Backward to my first week of job seeking, Do you know how many online jobs I sent the application for ? 1,2 or 3...don't underestimate me!!! I think the right answer is "10". As it is too easy to click..click..and click, so I did it 10 times. The point is I couldn't even remember the names of the companies. I already got punishment from doing this stupid thing. One day while I was sleeping on my cozy bed, I got a call from one of the companies I applied on internet." Do you know what type of business our company do?", the first question they asked me.Aaarrgghh!!!! my head jerked up,tried to find what they do.In the end, I gave them an answer but it was wrong then they put down their phone without saying goodbye (T_T")

Time passed me by so fast, hard to believe that I have been looking for a job for 3 weeks. In this week, I acted like people who were going to die. I laid down on the bed until half day has gone, repreated speaking the same word, Bored...Bored...Bored. I even thought what if I would not get a job within this year. I don't want to go slower than other friends. I was sitting in front of the internet whole day, did nothing worthwhile. Finally, the third week weaved his hand and left me with the unemployed status.

Ok! I think you won't blame me about all of my stupid.Tomorrow I will tell you what i am doing now. You are going to follow my last week as a job hunter.I must say that the last week is completely incredible. Don't miss it!!!

Ps. What do you think if we will help posting the questions which are frequently asked in the interview? Let me start with "What do you think about your life in 5 years later?"

Hi Chittisa, Nice to read your blog, but honestly I feel confused to follow your blogging since you wrote your blog inconsistent way. Anyway I try to enjoy your next entries.

Hi Aey, We meet each other again ^^. I really want to leave my comment here because I am doing same thing like you, sending a lot applications and get nothing back, lol (one different thing that i can remember companies'name and what they do). I had some interviews but it doesn't work out. For example, I had an interview this afternoon, I applied for an intern in non-profit organization, their question really made me confused, like: " What make you think you are suitable for this position?" or "Why should we accept you for this position, not the others?", "What could you do?" lol. You see, I am still unemployed and looking for a job now. Of course my parent can hepl me find a job easily, but I do want to stand on my feet, i hope finally i will find my job by my way.(or if I cant find a job within this year, i may need some help from my parent, :D) See you tomorrow, Aey.

Hi Chittisa, these are really interessting thougts about your tries to apply for a job. Some time I was in the same situation, but the first thing I've done was learning from people with more experience. I've read some books and articles, then I went into the internet getting more information and opportunities to get the job, for which I mean having the best conditions to achive the requirements of open job offers. Today I totally agree that it is the best to be prepared for different questions. You should know what the company produces or what there business is and in many times it is a key to success, if you have a patron or a known person working in the company you are interessted in. You can get so much more information about socializing, structure and so on that you feel more comfortable in case of first phone call or probablly an interview. Your artical was inspired to thinking about, how I did similar things in the past and when I look in the future, hopefully I will be prepared for the challenges I will master with my experience achive more competence in global business around the world. Thanks for your motivation to think about somthing, what is often naturally. Juergen

Hello Aye! You finished your post with a frequently asked during interviews question: "What do you think about your life in 5 years later?" I have always been curious what information the answer or this question can give to the employees. The last one can be misleaded by the applicant. Everyone who applies for a job expects this question and maybe has a ready prepared answer. On the other hand, 5 or 10 years are such a long period that I can hardly imagine what can happen. Maybe employees just whant to know how imaginative you are or to understand your priorities. What do you mean? I have little experience in applying for a job, but I am planning to change it soon.So the question is what the employees expect to hear as an answer. 10Q

Hi Chittisa Your blog is really interesting and funny. Your experiences with finding a job incredible:o)) I have had more luck, when I finding a job than you. I have visited only two or three companies and I found my current job. But it was simmilar to your story, because I found their advertisment and I called them. They said me "Well, you could come to interwiew but You have to send you CV immediately". It was little problem, bacause I wasn´t at home. But fortunatly I found my friend in his office and I could send my CV from his PC. Then I came to interwiew and I got my job. Have a nice day

Hi. Really stressful this experience of job hunting. I've been there myself. I can't say that I'm completely over it for I still haven't found a job I can say is the one of my life. But at least I have something now. What you said about getting help from important people in the company also happens here in my country. We call that a PISTOL. Don't ask me why. As a matter of fact I had never thought about the reason of this expression which means a big gun. What does it have to do with it? I may check it and if I get any answer I'll tell you later. Bye and keep up the good work. It's great.

Hi. Finding a job seems to be the hardest thing I've done. I thought that with my certificate from the wellknown university of Vietnam, I would easily get a good job. But in fact, the only job I got was the position of the cashier at one casino. I even took that position. But I quited after 4 days training. I cannot be a cashier after 4 years studying at the university. Now I'm unemployment :( By the way, I keep looking for a job. Wish Aey and you all the best. See ya!

hi! Chittisia,i think you are very brave and honest enough to confess that your mum pulled some strings to get you an interview. i admire your honesty.goodbye

What a relief for me to understand that somewhere in the world someone can get a job by pulling strings?I have thought it is possible only in my country. Our society is in proccess of transition to market economic. In the past(before 15 years)most of people use that method to find a job.The situation has been changing recently.Unemployment has risen, but we have free labour market.People who can and want to work hard are free to choose where to work so to be well paid.

Why so much brouhaha about 'my mom pulling strings'. You are an Asian and so am I. In our countries its a routine to get advantage of your position to get things done. No need to act so innocent just because its a public blog. And by the way, the word for this is Nepotism.

What does brouhaha mean? -"-

Chittisa your blog is good and I like it. To find a job is very hard and it needs time.

Thanks for all your contributions. This blog has now closed and can no longer accept new comments.
