Episode1: an introduction
Hello Eveyone
Before we start blogging, let me introduce myself first. My name is Chittisa but if you think it is difficult to pronounce or remeber you could call me "Aey". I am a fresh graduate from the University in Thailand. As I promised BBC learning English that if I had the oppotunity to join this section, I would write about my life after University since Iooking for a job, getting an interview until I would get a proper one. Then you are gonna catch up my woking life and lifestyle that are going to change from a student to a working woman. By the way if you do not think they are interesting or get annoyed with them. Please ignore them and turn this page off or give me your comments :) . I must apologize you in advance for any mistakes.
Well, Let get started here!! Because my promises with the BBC were maden 2 weeks ago, and I have already got a job at the moment I would tell you briefly (or not) about what I have been up to after I finished the University.I could remember precisely like everything just happened yesterday. Actually, I completed my degree since last April. After that, I have been to England and took the English language course. Before I went there, my English was quite poor. I always made mistakes when I spoke due to what I call "the direct translation". For example, I always said this day, instead of today. As today mean WAN-NEE in my language, and WAN in Thai word is meant DAY in English. NEE in Thai is THIS in English. I am not sure if you get what I meant but I know it is really ashamed.after I came back my English is better. of course, not perfect but better than it used to be.
When I stayed in the UK, I had a chance to visit many places. I have been to Scotland, Manchester, Liverpool, Preston, Blackpool and the last but not least, London. I gained load of experiences from living in the UK, met many new friends as well as improved my English skills . The other thing that I got while I lived in the UK is that I got a chance to know the BBC learning English. As I told you that my English was not good before, so I really had to fix it up to be able to communicate with native speakers and other friends from many countries. Therefore this website were really helpful when I did not go out anywhere, I loved to spend my time by sitting in front of computer whole day, learning English from this useful website.I now do miss the UK and wish I would have one more chance to get there.
I said goodbye to the UK on the 20 th of August and the plane landed to Bangkok, Thailand on the 21 st of August in the afternoon. I spent 1 day to take a rest then the next day I sorted out all of my documents from the University which I received while I was not in Thailand. I found out that there have been many jobs which need TOEIC score to prove our abilities in English Language for working.so I decided to take TOEIC examination 2 days later. For someone who do not know what the TOEIC is. You could check it out from the website www.ets.org/toeic/. I got the total scores of 760 from 990.Personally, it was not wonderful, but not too bad.
As soon as I got the TOEIC results, I started to apply for a job. Firstly I searched on websites that provide us with the job details of the companies or I am supposed to call them recruitment network. The process is that you just edit your resumes on those websites then they will be sent to HR of the companies to evaluate. In Thailand, it has been the popular way in applying for a job because we have no need to get out of our homes, spend money on travelling expenditure with the great benefits in applying for lots of job within only 1 day.In my point of view, this is a good way to apply for a job, but anyway it is not the best.
Actually, I do believe that if you are really interested to work for any companies and if they permit you to walk in their companies to apply for a job. you are supposed to get there. With the first reason is that you would see and touch the real atmosphere of those companies. You would find that you are not happy with the environment of some companies and fancy in another. The other reason which I personally think is to show your effort to work with them. Perhaps if you are lucky or they are in urgent requirement. You might get an interview in the same day.
How about in your guys countries? which is the most efficient way beteween the use of the online solution or the original walking in the prospective companies?
Anyway, I spent all of my first week with sending my online resume but nothing happened, ain't no companies contacted me back. I really got upset so the second week I changed my mind from sitting at home whole day and waitng someone ring me .I started to get out and walk in many companies just to fill their applications and to leave them in their baskets.I felt more releif because at least I ensured that my applications were on their hands. In this week I had the oppotunity to do the interview with one company....
all right, I think I have got to stop blogging at here because I must go out in a few minutes. Tomorrow I am going to continue my second week as a job hunter. Oh dear! I nearly forgot to tell you more about me. I graduted from the bachelor degree in Civil Engineering but the job which I am responsible for at the moment is not a civil engineer but I believe that I will be able to develop my knowledge and make a different contribution for the company.
I just came back from Pattaya last night..lol Don't misunderstand I didn't go for my holidays but I have been there for working. So they allow me to take Monday off. I have been a bit tired but anyway I am joyful to start my blog, to share my stories with you. Finally, for someone who are job seekers. I wish you are good luck and get the job you want soon.
speak later

Congratulation Aey! I wish you good luck and patience in writing interesting and helpful(for our English)posts.I hope you will like your current job.Use your chance to get better in your profession and to improve your English at the same time.
Hi Aey, I'm glad that I can read your blog. An emerging worker's emerging story! Interesting. I'm all ears. I hope all the readers here will have sheared your success with you eventually. But I couldn't understand what "HR" is. Recruiters in companies?
HR = human resource On 6 paragraph~ I do believe... is that wrong?
Hi Aey, nice to hear a good new from you. I just finished my University in July this year, and I am looking for a job now. As you see, this time is really a big change. I love to work in foreign companies or non-profit organizations, where have a multicutural environment. In my country _ Vietnam, most companies like to recieve applications in hard-copy, and some copies have to been certified as true, it's so waste of time and money ( you have to wait for long time for certification and have to pay for them). That's the second reason why i would like to apply for Fofeign Company, they accept CVs via email. Anyways, thanks for sharing us your experience. Wish you all the best. To Massa from Japan: I think HR stands for Human Resources. Have fun! ^^
Thank you for your guys comments.anyway, I'm sorry that I cofused you with the definition of HR.It stands for Human Resources like Oscar and Thai said. HR is the department in organization which manages the administrative aspects of the employees such as finding, screening, recruiting and training job applicants. I hope you will enjoy reading my blogs. I'll come back to continue the story as soon as I finish working and get home tomorrow
Hi Aey!I would like to welcome you.Good luck with your blog! I look forward to reading your tomorrow's entry!
Hi! Aey I consider you started well as a job hunter and as a blogger. Your are spontaneous and decided and this will help you in your life. Looking for a better job is a comon thing among youngsters in my country. I am persomally looking for a better job even abroad. In the last few years we have the same procedure of sending our aplicattions on net. Anyway good luck and keep you like this!
Hi Aey Iam Vy from Vietnam. Nice to meet you.
Hello Aey. Welcome to this blog. I see you are working now but you are still looking for a job in your field. Such as you, I am a civil engineer, and I believe you will find a suitable job. You just have to keep looking for opportunities in your field and believe in yourself. I had an english course some years ago in London and I enjoyed so much the experience knowing people from all over the world, practicing english all the time and visiting the famous sites in London. If I had the opportunity again I would have another course in London. Many jobs today need good english skills and look for an exam in order to certificate one's proficinecy. You have made the TOEIC and I made the TOEFL exam which I think is a similar exam. When looking for a job the best bet is to do whatever it is in your possibilities, but in my opinion the best approach is having proactivity and going directly to the companies demonstrating the interest in their organization. Bye for now.
Hi Aey! Good beginning you've made. I've been using these blogs to teach my students. They like it! Just a piece of advice - make it readable size. Best wishes.
Hello Aey!!!, You know?. My wife has just given up her job because she has ganged of city as we got married six months ago. She had a god job, and better mates. She is still looking for a new job in our new city. Everything is different here. She doesn´t know anybody and it makes it difficult so she decided to apply for the job wich she seeks in the web. Actually, she has been called for some interviews but nothing interesting, she doesn´t want to decrease the rank she had. What I mean is that both, my wife and you, must be patient. you both are intelligent and I´m sure that there is a place for you somewhere.Yyou only have to go on looking for...good luck and Cheer up!!!
A big thankyou to Oscar Chan, Thai Thanh Thuy and Aey herself for answering my question. I had guessed it should mean something like that. I was nearly right, wasn't I? It couldn't have been heart rate, House of Representatives or Horror Room. ;-) I know little about office-related terms, I should confess. So this blog must be a good chance to know the world where people use this HR as matter of course. Tata.

Aey, your English is fluent and well written. But have you considered using a speller checker on your text before you submit it? I'm pretty sure most native-English, professional writers' texts are checked automatically at some point. It isn't a substitute for knowing how to spell, and has to be used with care, but will catch mistakes like "remeber", which you may well already know how to spell, and thus make your writing look more polished.
hi Aey,after reading your story,i feel some feeling familiar with you,i am a fresh graduate from Chongqing univercity in China, and now i practiced in a company about circulation industry, the three monthes passed ,but i have not been a formal employee,so i feel nervous offen,i wish every fresh graduate good luck and finding a good job.

Getting a job is never an easy task, especially during these period. I remembered I have to stay at home for three months before I got my current job. Now I have been fed up with my job and would like to seek for a new challenge. Most of the job requirment include bilingual in Singapore. Well, I am not good in English, neither in speaking nor writing, that limits my choices. Therefore, I have decided to improve my English by accessing to BBC website. Hopefully I can see result in short time, maybe it's just a fat hope, sigh! Ah, great to meet you, Aey, before I forgot.

Congratulations Aey ! Yes I completly agree, Monday is the beginning of the week and you start working after a nice pause which gives you a new strenght. And if I may add something to that, I'd like to say: and I do not like Friday because it's the end of a week full of work and where I start getting tired !But, once you leave your work in the evening, you feel the importance of the week end and usually I make a good plan to spend it in a better way ! It's the time of recharging and renewing your forces as you said !And please Aey, don't forget you have great parents who love you so much !
