an ancient city

Yesterday evening it lighted, thundered and rained. But today sun shined and it was as hot and humid as before. You are very lucky to escape the heat, Lewis!

Today I took some photos on the way to my English school. When the bus passed the gate entry of the city wall, I took off the bus and walked around to take photos. When I came back home and tried to save them into my computer, unfortunately I had got a new but bad idea--- I uploaded them to my yahoo photo album to save my computer’s space. When I needed using them, I found all the photos became too small! The original ones were all deleted. Luckily I found the one and only one picture in my garbage can---the bell tower. Meg probably played with it,so I was able to get this one.
the bell tower

The bell tower is on the center of xi’an. It is an ancient building and has been repaired for many times. The top of the tower is coved by gold-panel, so it always shines. Many birds live under the roof. During the sunrises and sunsets we can see lots of bird flying around the tower. As what it’s name implied there is a big bell in the bell tower, but it has not been used for telling the time any more.

Our city has very long history---over 3100 years. 13 dynasties made their capitals here. So people are not surprised the news that somewhere were found a historic site. When I was younger, on a construction site near my home people dug and found an ancient grave with some pots and coins---not very valuable. Earlier in this year on another construction field, people found a grave with many antiquities. The most unusual thing is there were some pots of alcohol. It smelled good but it’s light green. Experts said this alcohol was about 1000 years old and it could not be drunk, since it contained too much copper.

The most famous attraction is Museum of Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses. Queen has been there. Clinton has been there, too. Most tourists who visited china visited there. Welcome to Xi'an, especially if you like history.

See you !

thank you for the beautiful picture.it reminds me of wonderful korean heritages, for example temples, delecately carved old buildings and stone towers which are very different from western styles.whenever i went to school trips i always admired our ancients's skill and their effots. But i was never good at histories in school. p.s:there were from 15 to 20 students in our class when i went to college.

So it is raininig ! In india too, its the same. In fact, its too much of rain here. Anyway the article was really nice. Hope you will keep updating us on china life.

Like your picture full of ancient taste which will open a window for the whole world.

Thanks for all your contributions. This blog has now closed and can no longer accept new comments.
