ANTONIO FROM ITALY BLOGGED IN JULY
I’m very sad for England. I think penalties are a very bad way to lose, aren’t they? I remember the final match of 1994 World Cup in the USA in which we lost 3-2 against Brazil in a penalty shootout. Although I was only 10 y.o. I perfectly remember the last Baggio’s penalty.
Anyway my completely wrong prediction about semi-final was England vs Brazil… luckily I didn’t bet anything! I really enjoyed Brazil vs France in which Zidane was extraordinary: everything he tried to do, he did! Brazil seemed to be tired and not brilliant as normally. With “normally”, however, I don’t mean this World Cup competition.
It is going to rain in Turin. I’m very happy because it’s really hard to study with this hot weather. I’m finishing to prepare a composition about media for the exam I’ll do next Thursday. The exam’s name is “Technical Writing” (in English) but it is about writing in Italian language. I think we are quite strange sometimes! A lot of Italian people use some English words when talk or write in Italian. I guess they do that to try to make their arguments more interesting and professional. In my opinion it’s a very ridiculous way to communicate and I absolutely don’t like it. It’s really funny to find out that some of them don’t speak English… eheh
I’m going to have diner to zio Mario’s (uncle Mario) home. He is a cousin of my father who lives in Turin. He’s always really kind to me and he often invites me for diner.
Have a nice evening, Rachel! Please say good luck to Italy tomorrow, we’ll need a lot. I’m very sad for the article against Italian people published on Der Spiegel. However I don’t want to say anything about it because I think (and I hope) it doesn’t represent what German people think of us.
For me the World Cup is a fantastic moment to be able to enjoy the sport with people from all over the World. We’re all citizens of the same World!

How time flies! you remind me Baggio..he was my favorite football player.. In fact,it wasn't Roberto but Dino Baggio(more gorgeous than the first, isn't he?!..) For today's match I sincerly hope that Italy will win,although I'm not Italian,but then,what will you do when you'll have to Face Zineddine Zidane,tell me?..

ciao antonio! I'm also sad not only for England, but also for many good teams that were defeated and sometimes I think it's a matter of luck about winning or losing(as in the penalties). What you say about Italians using English words to try to sound more interesting....I also wouldn't like. It's like saying "I know more English that you". Well, good luck tomorrow against Germany. :)
Hi Antonio, as you've refered to mixing language, I can tell you that it is very popular, not only in Italian language. In my country, there are ways to use English in common speaking. Students often use simple words such as "thanks" or "thank you", "sorry" and "bye" (but not "hello". By the way, do you know that in Vietnamese, "chào" means hello and it is pronunciated the same as "ciao" in Italian. I think it is an interesting coincidence). And about the mixing words, some of them are so popular that I didn't even know that it came from English. They are not too bad. However, in addition, there are some funny and unacceptable phrases which are not very popular but still existent such as "No four go" or "No star where". Don't try to understand in english because it can be understood in vietnamese only if you translate it word by word, follow a funny way, then it would mean "Don't mind, do what you want, no problems, don't mention it..." or something like that (because I don't know how to say in popular english). Anyway, I think we must be used to it. It might really be an "exciting" aspect of life :D Good luck to your exam! (may I say "best luck"?)
I agree with your opinion(We’re all citizens of the same World)... but i think not everybody enjoy the World Cup!!! Women who are not the World Cup fans are especially upset...their partners ignore them because of the Workd Cup!! For example, my dad watch the competition via the TV of bars, but not at home(he said the atmosphere is much better)!!!! Where do you watch the competition? Which team do you support? Italy?
I agree with you. The brazil´s soccer team weren't brilliant as usually they are. In my opinion, the principal cause is related with attitude of brazilian players. They make party frequently and they aren't completly compromised wih soccer. I think it was caused by excess in exposition in the media, and caused too excess of money that they earned.

It is a very good and great artical you made! I really enjoy the world cup and I saw most of it in Italy. but the problem is that I am Danish and our national team wasn't in the world cup, I'm so sad.
