At the moment… Japan 1-0 Brazil

I’ve just heard about the Tamada’s goal for Japan team. Probably the situation will be different when I finish to write this post, but for the moment I can enjoy this unexpected result! Nothing against Brazil team but I like surprises which, in my opinion, are the funniest part of a sport competition. Maybe that’s less true when your own team is playing! In fact today I watched Italy vs Czech Republic with some friends of mine and, although the match wasn’t so spectacular, we really enjoyed our victory and our qualification!

Thank you, Rachel, for your tips and your comments; when I send my post I look forward to reading your answer. I don’t have an usual strategy to learn new words. Sometimes I meet a word that I don’t know but whose meaning is totally understandable from the context. In this case, if I’m absolutely certain of what the word means, I don’t use my dictionary (also because I’m quite lazy… eheh). Seeing a film I adore to memorize dialogs which I really like. For example I learnt the phrasal verb “to drop out” seeing Eyes Wide Shut… Kidman: ’He plays really good for a doctor’ Cruise: ‘He’s not a doctor, he dropped out!”. Maybe this passion will drive me mad!!!! However I’ve been reading ‘The Broker’ by John Grisham for three weeks. For the first five chapters I searched every new word in my dictionary but now the plot has become so much interesting that I prefer to read fast then understand all the words! My first English dictionary was bilingual but I used it only for few weeks. In fact I think it’s the worst way to learn new words.

Has your Father enjoyed his secondary school reunion? I think it’s fantastic to be able to see some friends who you aren’t been meeting for so many time (maybe 50 years… am I right?). I have to say that I don’t know much about my family history but I would like to find out more about it…

I’ve just heard about the final result: Japan 1-4 Brazil. What can I say… things change!

I’ve just read your new post, Rachel, I’m really in late today!!!! Although I always see the Entertainment part of BBC Learning English website I haven’t still seen the last one. I’m going to do that.

See you tomorrow!

Good night…

Antonio

Fantastic Ronaldo!!! The world cup have already started for Ronaldo. We couldn't wait anymore! Now he tied the record of Muller:14 goals in the world cup.Our team is improving and Japan go back home!Sorry Zico!!

Hi I saw this match too. Our team played very well for the first 20 minutes. But Then Italy scored and we didn“t have will and fortune to score. It was sad match especially for Nedved. I think You have a better team. And I have to say, your blog is quite interesting.:o))) Have a nice day

Hello Antonio! It was very interesting to read your blogs. I don't know much about football partly because I don't watch football matches very often. But these days talking about football is just like a season. At my part, I would like to comment on some of other things in your blog. I also don't like using bilingual dictionaries because sometimes it is very confusing to understand every word with respect to your language and the language you are learning. With respect to learning new words, it is tiresome to look up the meaning of every difficult word when reading a novel or story. To know the meanings of new words I usually keep a pencil with me and underline only those words which are common in conversation. Have a nice day bye

Hello everybody, best greetings from Germany, at the moment a place full of people all around the world. I t is fantastic to meet so many fans here. The world cup has so many surprises - one of this was the game between Togo and France. What a great game, especially for the goalkeeper of Togo. I think he is much better than our stars Kahn and Lehmann. I am sorry for this team, that they have to go home. And of course: Germany vs. Sweden. What can I say? We are proud of our team. I also improve my English by reading books. In the beginning it was difficult. My first books were the stories of harry Potter, but they are a good way to learn. Seldom I use the dictionary while reading (I am lazy, too...) I prefer to read paragraph again and try to understand the sens of this words. So, for my way, it is better than looking for every single word in a dictionary. And you lern a word better with an expresson. Have a nice time best regards from Germany

This is my frist time to comment on this website. I know you are the Brazil team supporter but I am not now. In fact, I don't like Brazil at all. I hate Brazil because they don't have the team spirit. All of them just like to show off their skill but you know it is useless to win any match. In the past I am the Brazil team supporter and I would gamble a large part of my salary on them but you know I have never won any money from them furthermore I almost lost all of my possessiom. So don't talk about Brazil to me.

hello antonio,I'vejust read your blog and I find the whole idea of the blog thing just great!I am an English student here in my country and I am completely crazy about learning it;it's such a fantastic language.I love the sound of each word and I think you've got a really good English.I hope to enter the competition and I am also looking fordward to July 3 because it is my birthday.(I'll be 35).Everybody, including me,is so enthusiastic about the world cup here, that I CAN DEFINITELY UNDERSTAND YOUR WATCHING IT ALL THE TIME! OK that seems to be all for now.Thank you BBC for this wonderful opportunity of communication!bye, jorgelina

I also saw that game Brazil versue Japan! even though I haven't had a good mind against Japan, I wanted for them to defeat to Brazil:) as you know, 2006 Germany world cup there were 5~6 asian teams which joined the roudnd of 32 but unfortunately I havent heard that one of asian teams won the game!:( when Japan got an unexpected goal I couldnt believe that seen which i was seeing! but it didnt take a long time for Ronaldo to get a goal!
