Morley: Sydney made to suffer
News image

I'm not exactly flavour of the month with Roosters coach Ricky Stewart.

No sooner had I made my return from back surgery than I was facing another spell on the sidelines after twisting my ankle in a freak accident.

It must seem as though I am being held together by sticky-back plastic
Adrian Morley

You can't blame Ricky for being a little upset. The Roosters haven't really got the money's worth out of me since I joined them two years ago.

It is through no fault of my own. It's just bad luck. But they must be wondering what's going to happen next.

Last year I broke my arm, but this year I have damaged my ribs, needed a back operation and now turned my ankle.

It must seem as though I am being held together by sticky-back plastic.

I was lucky with injuries when I was younger. It was other players getting injured.

But now I'm stuck on the sidelines - and you don't realise just how frustrating it can be.

The back felt a bit tight - and the doctor has said I may never be 100% again
Adrian Morley

Before I damaged my ankle getting onto a ferry, I had made a pretty successful return to action following back surgery.

The back felt a bit tight against Cronulla - and the doctor has said I may never be 100% again - but it did not hinder my play.

I was apprehensive going into the match - who wouldn't be?

But once I'd made a couple of tackles, I was fine and confident my back would stand up to anything.
