Morley: Injury jinx strikes again
test hellotest
Adrian Morley

Great Britain international Adrian Morley suffers more injury heartache and says he expects to be out for at least three weeks.

I'm out for a few weeks after damaging my ribs in the game against the Northern Eagles.

It's the last thing I needed after spending so much time on the sidelines last season.

It was a freak accident. About 20 minutes in, I tried to shrug a guy off and felt my rib pop out.

Brad Fittler
Fittler has been out for six weeks with the same problem
It didn't hurt straight away but the physio told me I had to come off.

It was in the changing room that the pain started to set in. Painkillers didn't seem to make much difference at all.

I've since been told I will be out for a few weeks. Brad Fittler has been laid up with the same problem for six weeks but hopefully mine is not as serious.

It's not a good time for injuries at the Roosters.

Apparently we've got as many as 15 first-teamers out and our casualty list is being described as the worst in the club's history.

It's one of the reasons we've had such a poor start to the season.

There is a lot of pressure on rookie coach Ricky Stuart but I hope the board of directors realise it's the injuries which have hampered us.

It hasn't helped that our city rivals, Souths, are above us in the table.

They were the favourites for the wooden spoon before the season started but they've recorded two wins from their first four games.

We've got one victory to our name - a tally that will be hard to add to this weekend.

A lot of top coaches have failed to turn the Cowboys' fortunes around, so Graham will be in good company if he doesn't succeed
Adrian Morley

We are due to play leaders Newcastle, who have won all four of their matches so far.

My old coach Graham Murray is back in the NRL after being appointed coach of the struggling North Queensland Cowboys.

He's got a tough job on his hands. They haven't won this season and are bottom of the table.

But he's excited and must know there isn't a lot of pressure on him.

A lot of top coaches have failed to turn the Cowboys' fortunes around, so he'll be in good company if he doesn't succeed.

One of his first games in charge will be against the Roosters, his former club, so he'll have a few points to prove.
