Great Britain might have to be on Lomu alert towards the end of the year when they take on New Zealand. But it's not Jonah who could be putting our defence to the test but my Sydney Roosters team-mate Andrew. A distant relative of the All Blacks legend, Andy is a big, strong lad who has all the characteristics of a world-beater. At 21, he is still learning the game but has got lots of potential. He can be as good as he wants to be if he puts his mind to it.
It was a good victory and our fourth in a row, which means our trials and tribulations at the start of the season have almost been forgotten. Melbourne gave us our toughest game so far. They are a physical side who did their best to bash us. But our defence held firm. We've got a bye this weekend, which means I've got a chance to sort out a back problem that has been giving me a bit of grief in recent matches. A lot of the other guys are heading up to the Gold Coast, where the best beaches are and the weather is almost always nice, but I'm staying put in Sydney. Talk of Anthony Mundine making a return to rugby league has resurfaced after he told St George Illawarra fans that he would love to play for the Dragons again.
I've seen him box a few times and he's not bad, but now he apparently wants to play NRL again. There was talk of him going to Souths before the season started - and there's no doubt he was a very exciting player - but you never know whether he is being serious or not. Anthony is a controversial figure and has a habit of saying things just to drum up a bit of publicity. He said some things he shouldn't have after the terrorist attacks on 11 September and upset a lot of people. He was virtually an outcast in Australia for a while. He is the type of guy who says things before he thinks them through, although there is no denying he has a lot of natural talent. |
