Morley: Bring on the Kiwis
News image

It is good to be back in Britain. A lot has changed since I was last here.

Both of my brothers have had kids for a start, so I have been trying to see as much as I can of the latest additions to the Morley family.

I have also met up with friends that I haven't seen for a while as well as a few of my former team-mates.

It has been good to catch up with all the news and gossip.

One thing I have not missed, though, is the British weather.

Just when it was starting to warm up in Sydney, I was hopping on a flight bound for colder climes.

I arrived at Manchester Airport in a t-shirt, shorts and a pair of flip-flops.

My dad just looked at me and shook his head. I don't think he was the only one who thought I was mad.

It will come as no surprise to learn that I have already got a cold.

But hopefully I can shake that off in Spain, which is where the Great Britain squad is heading on Wednesday.

It is great to be part of the GB set-up again.

I have missed the last few games because of injury, so I am naturally itching to get going again at international level.

Stacey Jones in raining with New Zealand
Stacey Jones is a player I admire greatly
I have not been involved with GB since 1999.

I did play for England in the 2000 World Cup but injury brought my tournament to a premature end.

The GB squad looks really strong on paper.

We will be missing a few players because of injury but we are still capable of coming out on top against New Zealand.

Several of the Kiwis have been saying nice things about me on the back of the Roosters' success in the NRL.

It is very flattering and a big boost to the ego to receive complements from someone like Stacey Jones.

He is a player I admire greatly.

Hopefully the nice comments will keep on coming once the Test series starts.
