The two teams will face each in next year's showpiece after winning their respective Grand Finals. And Great Britain second rower Morley admits he is already extremely wary of the new Super League kings.
He told BBC Sport Online: "St Helens are a champion side and will start as favourites. "They have had a bit of experience of the World Club Challenge whereas we haven't at the Roosters. "Plus, the game is in England, so that will be a major bonus for the Saints boys." The Roosters booked their World Club Challenge date with a 30-8 victory over the New Zealand Warriors. St Helens, who beat the Brisbane Broncos in 2000, earned another crack at the title with a dramatic 19-18 win over the Bradford Bulls. And Morley, who was a spectator at Old Trafford on Saturday, says he has already put his Roosters team-mates on red alert. He said: "I have been watching St Helens for a while and I know a lot of their strengths. "They have got a lot of attacking flair so we will have to be on the ball."
According to Morley, Roosters bosses are already looking at footage of the match to try and find weaknesses in the Saints team. No date has been set for the match as yet, although it is expected to take place in England in February. Morley added: "We might be favourites if it was in Sydney. "At that time of year it is red hot and a lot of the Sydney boys will have trained in it and got used to it. "That would suit us, so home advantage is a big factor." This year's World Club Challenge saw Bradford beat the Newcastle Knights 41-26 at Huddersfield's McAlpine Stadium. On that occasion, the 25-year-old Morley was backing the Bulls. He explained: "I have always supported the British sides in the past, but not next year. "I guess I'll have mixed emotions over that one but I can't cheer for St Helens." |
