Dundee must do better
Juan Sara celebrates against Livingston
Juan Sara's goals will be crucial for Dundee
A turbulent close season at Dens Park saw colourful but controversial manager Ivano Bonetti sacked to be replaced by former Dundee boss Jim Duffy.

Bonetti had assembled an exciting squad with a number of talented foreign imports added to a sprinkling of homegrown players.

But in his two seasons, Bonetti's side failed to turn quality football into quality results, a fact that ultimately cost the Italian his job.

With Bonetti gone, Duffy will bring a new approach to the management at the club.

  Dundee FC
Last season: 9th
Key player: Giorgi Nemsadze
Top signing: Nacho Novo
Duffy, as well as having managed Dundee and Hibs before, has, more recently, worked as a coach at Chelsea and Portsmouth.

If he can successfully instil consistency into his undoubtedly talented squad - Giorgi Nemsadze, Juan Sara, Fabian Caballero - there is plenty of room for optimism at Dens Park.

However, a hugely disappointing ninth position last year provides some indication of the task he faces in shaping a team capable of challenging for a Uefa Cup place this term.

The arrival of Spaniard Nacho Novo from Raith Rovers is the only addition to last season's squad, with a host of foreigners leaving, most notably Temuri Ketsbaia.
