| Thursday, 1 August, 2002, 18:50 GMT 19:50 UK Celts want more of same ![]() A third SPL title is Celtic's main priority Martin O'Neill's side were unstoppable in the SPL last season and there is little to suggest that will change this year. Most importantly, the manager is still at Celtic Park, after speculation linking him with the Leeds United job during the summer. O'Neill has made three additions to his squad, with Magnus Hedman and Ulrik Laursen coming in as well as David Fernandez. Of last season's first team squad, only Lubo Moravcik has departed, but there is a feeling that strengthening is necessary if a serious challenge is to be mounted in this season's Champions League.
Nevertheless, by the time the new season kicks off, O'Neill is sure to have his team in peak condition and as robust as ever. Having lost out in both cups to Rangers last term, Celtic will be keen to retain their stranglehold on Scottish silverware. O'Neill will also be determined to nip Alex McLeish's honeymoon as Rangers manager in the bud. The second group stages of the Champions League and a third successive SPL title will be the priority. |
