| Thursday, 1 August, 2002, 19:02 GMT 20:02 UK Killie on track for good season ![]() Jim Jefferies has been able to add to his squad Kilmarnock's season was disappointing by the high standards set by the team under Bobby Williamson. But they did finish top of the bottom six and there were signs that Jim Jefferies had started to mould his own side after taking over from Williamson. The summer has seen a number of players leave Rugby Park, but unlike many of his counterparts, Jefferies has been able to bring in new recruits.
Allied to the group of talented youngsters already at Rugby Park - Peter Canero, Paul di Giacomo, Kris Boyd - and the more experienced pros - Freddie Dindeleux, Andy McLaren - the newcomers make up as strong a squad as there is outwith the Old Firm. Much is expected in particular of Fulton who, with a new slimline figure, could provide the guile missing from the Kilmarnock midfield in Ian Durrant's absence. Europe is a realistic target for the Rugby Park side and third place will certainly be Jefferies' target. |
