Cornish Pirates scrum-half

We will arrive in 'the big smoke' confident and determined, but under no illusions that this will be an extremely difficult game

Last Sunday we welcomed Bristol to Camborne and there was a real buzz about the place.

Bristol brought with them a large following which saw the biggest crowd of the season at the Rec of over 4,000.

The rain was not ideal but to be honest it would have been classed as a good day up north.

We showed some real ambition and at half-time went in level.

The second half was an error-ridden 40 minutes and Bristol's forward dominance took its toll.

They were very clinical and we unfortunately made too many mistakes.

Having now lost two games in a row, the team will be eager to get back to winning ways, but life in the Championship is not so kind with another tough fixture away to London Welsh. It will again pose a different challenge.

Welsh have been going well this year again, having strengthened their squad in the off-season.

Their money troubles are long behind them and they have been enjoying a good run of form, narrowly missing out to Exeter last week.

It promises to be a tough game and as always after a loss, the boys are itching to get back out there.

We have two new additions to the squad with Alex Shaw on loan from Sale Sharks and Shaun Pammenter signing from struggling Birmingham.

We all hope that the Bees survive the money troubles, which seem to be ever-present in this league, and can put in a real challenge.

The reason for the new arrivals is due to the fact that we are still struggling with numerous injuries, however it is not being used as an excuse.

I have resumed full training this week and hope to be available for selection next week as do a few of my team-mates similarly frustrated with niggling injuries.

It is nice to get away from the clutches of the early morning conditioning sessions specifically designed to keep the injured boys entertained.

I am sure that the coaches are looking forward to selection headaches when a few of the injured players are back fit.

This weekend promises to be a good game and again a real test for us.

A new-look back row will be seen and one that looks very exciting with a good balance.

The backs have been looking very sharp in training and I am sure that the battle-hardened forwards will be looking for some dominance this weekend.

We will arrive in 'the big smoke' confident and determined, but under no illusions that this will be an extremely difficult game.
