I was amazed to see so many Cornish Exiles from all over the north and midlands, taking an opportunity to see their team

Another successful week in the Championship and some real momentum is gathering within the Pirates squad.

We're thrilled to be unbeaten so far, in what I think will become a very competitive league as the season progresses.

Our performances have been somewhat patchy and Friday night was no exception.

However I'm sure if you had offered any of us that score before the match we would have certainly taken it; but in reality it could have been a more convincing margin of victory.

With the forwards fronting up again and the backs cutting loose, it is an enjoyable brand of rugby which is so far proving very fruitful.

Despite Pirates' excellent record at Castle Park we were expecting a hard game against Doncaster and we were not disappointed.

Having made the trip 'up north' to see family members and 'the understanding girlfriend', I witnessed first hand the travelling support that the Pirates have.

I was amazed to see so many Cornish Exiles from all over the north and midlands, taking an opportunity to see their team.

This, coupled with the Cornish contingent of away fans who make every away game, meant there was a real presence at Castle Park, which is now a fantastic facility.

We're raring to go for the weekend and with five players having spent time at the West Midlands club there will be no extra motivation needed

James Doherty on the clash with Coventry

Preparation for Coventry has again been in depth, with our own review and an opposition review, nothing is left to chance and no question is left unanswered.

As a squad there is a great deal of confidence in the coaching team, we're all singing from the same hymn sheet and it is certainly a happy house, as it should be with three wins from three.

Having rested some bumps and bruises, training resumed and it hasn't let up at all and the squad was treated to some 'coach's choice' fitness drills.

One in particular is 'the pack of cards', in which each suit represents a different exercise and the number giving the repetitions - gruelling to say the least.

The injured boys, not to feel left out, have been again fighting it out for the yellow jersey on the exercise bikes.

We're raring to go for the weekend and with five players having spent time at the West Midlands club there will be no extra motivation needed.

The squad is hoping for a big turn out at Camborne to really take advantage of the good start made so far.

As a squad we want to make The Rec a fortress, and with the passion of the supporters here, I'm sure we can.
