Radlinski's decision to stay in league last August was a massive shot in the arm for Wigan. Featured in the first two Tests of the series against Australia in November and was selected in the Super League Dream Team for second year running. Brett Dallas

Date of birth: 20/7/71
Renowned for carrying the ball with one hand. He was on the wing for NSW in last year's State of Origin series and fills the role vacated by Aussie legend Steve Renouf. He does not count on the overseas quota as his parents were from England. Gary Connolly
Centre
Date of birth: 22/6/71
Ranked one of the finest and most capable centres in the modern game. He was a star performer in last Autumn's Ashes series and Wigan officials had little to consider when offering him an extended stay at the club. Paul Johnson
Centre

Bounced back to form and fitness last year after frustrating 2000 season. Season came alive with fantastic display for Lancashire in the inaugural Origin match. Played on wing for GB, performing well in all three Tests against Australians. Julian O' Neill
Stand-off

Scrum-half
Date of birth: 25/8/70
A folk hero in his native Papua New Guinea after helping them to the 2000 World Cup quarter-finals. After losing consecutive Grand Finals with Sydney in 2000 and Wigan last year, he will be hungry to make sure it is third time lucky in 2002. Terry O'Connor
Prop
Date of birth: 13/10/71
The popular forward captained Ireland to the 2000 World Cup quarter-finals and featured for GB against Australia in the 2001 Ashes series. Scarred face and badly broken nose are painful reminders of his physical play for club and country. Terry Newton
Hooker
Date of birth: 7/11/78
A broken arm suffered in the Warriors' Grand Final defeat to Bradford kept him out of last Autumn's Ashes series. Wigan-born, he returned to home-town club at the end of 1999 after starting his career at Leeds Rhinos. Craig Smith
Prop
Date of birth: 30/10/70
Regarded as one of the best props in the world. NZ Test international had some run-ins with Australian disciplinary chiefs last year because of his running style and received a lengthy ban that kept him out of the NRL play-off series. Mick Cassidy
Second row
Date of birth: 8/7/73
Cassidy is the clubs' longest serving player and committed himself to the club for another three years during his testimonial season of 2000. Phenomenal work-rate and often tops the tackle and hit counts compiled by the club statisticians. David Furner
Second row
Date of birth: 6/2/71
Form last season was superb and he quickly won the hearts of the Wigan fans. His robust style and ability to hit space out wide, coupled with sound technique and tenacity in defence saw him miss only one game for the club all season. Andrew Farrell
Loose forward
Date of birth: 30/5/75
Despite being only 26, he has already captained his country on two tours and the 2000 World Cup. Has also captained Wigan throughout the Super League era and led his country to a first Test victory over Australia last year. Substitutes (from):
Brian Carney
Wing

Since turning pro, he has been a regular for Ireland and featured heavily in the Lincoln Financial World Cup of 2000. His arrival at Wigan was initially hampered by injury, but since breaking into the team he has impressed. David Hodgson
Wing
Date of birth: 8/8/81
Hodgson featured for GB in the third and final Test at Wigan last Autumn. Missed out on selection for last year's Grand Final but played his part in getting the team there. He is a fast and elusive winger who can also play centre. Mark Smith
Hooker
Date of birth: 18/8/81
Made a number of first team appearances in 2001 and impressed observers. Would be first team regular but for consistent form of Terry Newton. Went on England U21 tour of South Africa last year and is regarded very highly at Wigan. Stephen Wild
Second row
Date of birth: 26/4/81
Made a handful of first team appearances at the end of last season. Powerful running second rower faces tough competition but has proved he can handle the pressures and physical nature of the Super League competition. Ricky Bibey
Prop
Date of birth: 22/9/81
Made his first team debut at home to Wakefield last May and then suffered the strange fate of being sent off in only his second senior outing against Salford. Robust, no nonsense approach to game has made him popular with fans. Sean O'Loughlin
Half-back
Date of birth: 24/11/82
Son of ex-GB player Kieron O'Loughlin and brother-in-law to Andy Farrell. Highly-skilled utility player whose strength is his handling ability. Played for GB Academy on recent tour Down Under, where he impressed GB coach David Waite.
Coach: Stuart Raper
Took over as coach of the Warriors in May 2001. Moved from Castleford where he did an outstanding job in making the Tigers a force to be reckoned with. Some silverware would help ease the pressure after a disappointing start to Super League.
