| Tuesday, 7 January, 2003, 22:17 GMT Gills stroll past Owls ![]() King fires home a penalty for his second of the night Gillingham 4-1 Sheffield Wednesday Gillingham recovered from an early setback against an under-strength Sheffield Wednesday side to cruise into the FA Cup fourth round and seal a lucrative home tie against Leeds. The visitors got off to the perfect start when Alan Quinn crossed for Sibon to nod home his eighth goal of the season after five minutes.
King missed a penalty after the break before Chris Hope took the match beyond Wednesday with a towering header.
The Gills went ahead in the 18th minute when Owls defender Ashley Westwood handled the ball in the area and King hit the penalty into the roof of the net for his seventh of the season. And four minutes before the break Ipoua pounced on a loose ball to score his first goal in nine games. King's stinging shot was only parried by Stringer and the Cameroon forward was on hand to turn in the rebound. Wednesday started the second half brightly and Quinn forced a fine stop from Jason Brown with a powerful volley after 47 minutes.
King was denied his hat-trick, though, as Stringer palmed his effort away to safety. Less than 10 minutes later Hessenthaler's deep cross picked out Hope, and he gave Wednesday's keeper no chance with a strong header to guarantee the Gills' passage into the fourth round.
