| Saturday, 4 January, 2003, 11:47 GMT Gills tie washed out ![]() Gillingham's FA Cup third round tie against Wednesday was called off because of a waterlogged pitch. The match was called off at 1130 GMT on Saturday despite being given the all clear less than 24 hours earlier. Referee Paul Taylor inspected the Priestfield Stadium pitch on Friday after heavy downpours during the week. He decided the pitch had recovered from recent rain, which earlier in the week saw the league games against Wimbledon and Norwich postponed. But the game was called off just over three hours before the scheduled kick off. |
