| Thursday, 13 February, 2003, 01:12 GMT Farnborough shock Quakers Darlington 2-3 Farnborough Farnborough Town reached the FA Cup fourth round for the first time in their history with victory over Third Division Darlington.
The Hampshire club are the only non-league club definitely through after a five-goal thriller at Feethams. Danny Carroll was the Farnborough hero when he netted the winner on the hour mark. Barry Laker was the first to go close for Farnborough in the seventh minute but his side only had to wait another three minutes to take a shock lead. Top scorer Rocky Baptiste latched on to a Michael Warner cross from the right wing.
In a tumultuous contest, Carroll converted the first of his two goals five minutes later after beating Chris Porter from close range.
Despite falling 2-1 behind, Darlington began to look the stronger of the two sides as the half wore on. Simon Betts came closest to equalising with a long-range effort and captain Craig Liddle could also consider himself unlucky after he hit the crossbar with his header.
Both sides struggled to make an attacking impact in the second half as their previously frail defences finally held firm. But Carroll provided the difference when he claimed his second goal of the game after 60 minutes to book an unlikely place in the fourth round for Farnborough. Darlington: Porter, Valentine, Liddle, Whitehead, Betts, Hodgson (Mellanby 71), Keltie, Nicholls, Wainwright, Offiong, Clark. Booked: Liddle, Wainwright.
