| Tuesday, 11 February, 2003, 23:53 GMT Dagenham hold Plymouth ![]() Plymouth's Ian Stonebridge beats Mark Smith Plymouth 2-2 Dagenham & Redbridge Junior McDougald's second-half strike earned Conference side Dagenham & Redbridge a hard-earned draw at Home Park. Dagenham deservedly went ahead in the 13th minute when Paul Terry headed home at the near post from John McGrath's right-wing cross. The visitors could well have been two goals to the good as they took the game to Argyle and went close through Steve West and McDougald.
The Pilgrims levelled two minutes before the break when Martin Phillips crossed from the left, Graham Coughlan chipped the ball back over Tony Roberts and Ian Stonebridge smashed home from close range. Keeper Roberts immediately made a great save to deny Mickey Evans and as half-time approached Stonebridge went close with a thumping effort. Paul Wotton then put the hosts ahead with a thunderous 35-yard free-kick which took a deflection past Roberts in the 61st minute but just six minutes later, McDougald found the net to take the tie back to the Victoria Ground.
And it leaves the Daggers still contemplating the possibility of a money-spinning fourth round tie. Dagenham boss Gary Hill will have left the West Country believing the play-off hopeful have a real chance of springing a surprise against Paul Sturrock's side in the replay. They caused enough problems for the Second Division side to make them anxious about the prospects of surviving the potentially hazardous second clash.
