MEMORIALS and REMEMBRANCE
Laurie Taylor meets the authors of two books about war and remembrance, books from quite different perspectives which consider how we remember such traumatic events as wars, genocide and acts of terrorism.
James Tatum, Professor of Classics at Dartmouth College in the States and author of The Mourners Song - War and Remembrance from The Iliad to Vietnam and Dr. Jenny Edkins, Senior Lecturer in International Politics at the University of Wales, Aberystwyth and author of Trauma and the Memory of Politics discuss the various ways of remembering and contest the idea that memorials inevitably promote national myths.
