 EROTIC JUSTICE
Laurie Taylor is joined by Ratna Kapur, Director of the Centre for Feminist Legal Research in New Delhi, India and the author of 'Erotic Justice: Law and the New Politics of Postcolonialism'.
In her book Ratna Kapur argues that anti-trafficking strategies and laws have meant women from developing countries are increasingly limited in their freedom to move, are under greater surveillance, and are ever more constrained by regressive views on sexual integrity and women's central place in the home.
THE MYTH OF THE ENGLISH HIGHWAYMAN
A recent historical account of highwayman Dick Turpin shows that the myth of the gallant handsome dandy who charmed gentle women and robbed only the wealthy and corrupt was greatly at odds with the real Dick Turpin who was a pock-marked vicious thug.
Laurie Taylor examines the appeal of the highwayman and gentleman criminal with Professor James Sharpe, author of Dick Turpin - The Myth of the English Highwayman and Stephen Knight, Distinguished Research Professor in English Literature at Cardiff University and author of Robin Hood - A Mythic Biography.
