Libby Purves presents this week's edition of the Learning Curve.
CREATIVITY The Learning Curve addresses the idea of creativity as it relates to education. As Tony Blair’s premiership comes to an end, Libby Purves asks: How serious has the government been about encouraging creativity? What is the future for creative activities in our schools? And what exactly is creativity? Joining Libby Purves live in the studio are: Paul Collard, National Director of Creative Partnerships Graham Jeffery, faculty member of the London East Research Institute, UEL and a Visiting Research Fellow at the Open Creativity Centre, Open University Paul Roberts, Director of the Strategy, Information and Development (SID) directorate at the IDeA
THE LIFE CHANGERS Everyone who has been through further or higher education has a story to tell about the staff who made it possible, about the people who opened up a new area of knowledge, persuaded them that they could achieve more and in the words of one student 'switched a light on' which once illuminated never goes off. Life Changers is a celebration of this important contribution, initiated by the University and College Union. The UCU invited nominations of Life Changers from across the UK and will hold an award ceremony this Wednesday 16th May 2007 honouring, among others, Professor Dick Hobbs, Head of Sociology at the LSE, who joins Libby Purves live in the studio.
