Katie & Alan

Adventurer Katie - or 'Glam Nan' to her five children and five grandchildren – may be into her fake nails and fake eyelashes, but she thinks that underestimating her would be a big mistake. She retired from the police force in 2010, having joined in 1994. She was a police dog handler for much of her career, just like her father was. The two things Katie’s really worried about leaving behind in Romford are mint chocolates and sweets, which she’s desperately hoping will be in the Prized Apart rations (sorry Katie - you may be very disappointed)!

Studio player Alan’s still on active duty for the police force, as he has been for 26 years, and he was based at Stoke Newington police station with Katie for 10 of them. Working together brought the couple so close that they now even have conversations in their sleep. Alan is in charge of three things at home: vacuuming, sorting the dishwasher and mowing the lawn. Other than that, he hasn’t got a clue how he’s going to survive without Katie and admits that he will worry about her every single day while she’s away.
