Wendy

Underneath that tough exterior lies a vulnerable woman desperate for love and affection. She’s finally found happiness with partner Katya and Wendy’s six-year-old daughter Florence. A family full of happiness, something that Wendy is determined to hold on to.

What most of her friends do not realise is that Wendy has been keeping a dark secret from them - her ex Nina. Wendy and Nina met on a night out clubbing. Wendy was never big on the clubbing/lesbian scene. She always felt out of place. That night, Nina approached her and turned on the charm. Wendy fell for it and they exchanged numbers. At first they were happy and Wendy admired the confidence that Nina had. They’d only been together for six months when Nina asked to move in. For the first time Wendy felt happy so she said yes.

But Nina started getting jealous. She would belittle Wendy and encouraged her to stop seeing her friends. Soon the verbal abuse turned physical and every time Wendy questioned her behaviour she’d apologise profusely. Nina suggested they should try for a baby as a way to cement their relationship. Wendy had always wanted a child and saw an opportunity to change Nina so they found a donor and after a few attempts Florence was born. But the strain of being a parent was hard. Nina became volatile and it wasn’t long before her mental jibes turned physical; black eyes and bruises becoming commonplace.
