MØ: "Justin Bieber is actually super sweet and polite!"

The amazingly cool rocked up to Radio 1 to play a beaut Live Lounge set including the best cover of Rihanna's Love On The Brain.

So we grabbed her for a chat because we were despo to know about Justin Bieber, her love of Spice Girls and just how she is that cool...

You’ve become so huge recently! Has there been one thing that you think was the reason for this?

Lean On was definitely was the break-through. It changed my life in a really good way!

Has there been a particular OMG moment?

It doesn’t happen right away, it’s gradual. It probably wasn’t until the end of 2015 that I realised how big it had been. Suddenly all these opportunities popped up. I remember the first time I played Jimmy Fallon with Major Lazer and I was like ‘Wow this is amazing’.

Cold Water was so massive…

Well Justin Bieber is on it so…Not that it wasn’t great! First time I heard it I loved it so much but you never know when you have a hit!

Did you record it with Justin?

No I didn’t ! I wrote my bridge part with Major Lazer in LA but the I recorded it in my little cabin in Iceland on my own. I haven’t met him since the song, but I actually met him before and he was super nice, super sweet and polite.

Were you nervous to meet him?

No! When you see these famous people you realise they are just people.

What was your fave Bieber song before you were on one?

Where Are U Now was such a good song! I still love it!

Who is the next dream collab?

A cool girl I think. Grimes or…Tove Lo! She’s a cool girl ha-ha. There are so many cool people I would like to work with.

You seem like such a confident person, what’s your secret?

I think that comes from the fact that when I started performing years ago. It’s the most terrifying thing in the world and the only way to not feel terrible is to just really let go of everything and really not care about whether you look good or sound right.

Is there anything that makes you feel more confident immediately?

It depends on the season and what my hair or skin looks like. It’s winter, so recently I’ve been wearing a cap to hide my hair if it’s bad! It’s been a life saver ha-ha.

You were a huge Spice Girls fan and you told Adele in the Live Lounge that you were always Posh Spice...

Yes but I was desperate to be Sporty Spice! I actually played with Mel C at the Roundhouse and it was so crazy. I was so emotional. I felt like I couldn’t breathe through the show because I knew she was coming and I was so emotional! It was a dream come true!

They were all about girl power – who do you think is doing that now?

I think Grimes is really on top of that. She says some really clever and good things without it being too much. The thing about [issues like feminism] is if you do it too much people stop listening so she’s doing it in a great way.

You’ve worked with some other strong women like Iggy Azalea and Charli XCX – did you learn anything from them?

Charli is so awesome, I love her! She’s so nice but so strong and opinionated. I didn’t get to hang out with Iggy that much but with Charli I think she has this confidence but it’s not forced. She’s just cool and relaxed and her way or executing things is really inspiring. She just steps into the room and commands it. But she is also nice and fun.

I love when celebrities are just down to earth and normal people and you can feel that they are comfortable in their self.
