Former Kaduna State govnor, Nasir El-Rufai, don dump di All Progressives Congress (APC) for di Social Democratic Party (SDP).

El-Rufai make di announcement for one statement wey e release on Monday 10 March, wia e say di party no dey follow di original vision wey dem take form am for 2013.

Di former govnor, wey be one of di founding members of APC, say e don try raise concerns privately and publicly about di way wey di party dey move, but di pipo wey dey control APC now no send.

According to El-Rufai, e expect say im personal values and APC go align reach di time wey e wan retire from politics, but wetin e dey see no follow wetin e believe.

"Today, 10th March 2025, I don submit letter to resign my membership of di APC to my ward for Kaduna, effective immediately.

"Bifor dis step, I bin conclude consultations wit my mentors, colleagues and loyalists across di kontri about di future. I don decide to join di Social Democratic Party (SDP), and adopt am as di platform for our future political engagements and activities," El-Rufai tok.

E say as founding member of di APC, e get fond memories of working wit oda compatriots to negotiate di merger of political parties wey create di APC.

Di former govnor say im bin get hope since 2013 say im personal values and dat of di APC go continue to align up to di time im choose to retire from politics.

"As loyal party man, I bin work to help secure di APC election victories for 2015, 2019 and 2023.

"I be one of di many govnors wey dey elected on di party platform for 2015 and 2019, wey stand for certain democratic and progressive principles to advance nation-building," El-Rufai tok.

E say APC don "comot im organs and treat im membership wit contempt" in di last two years, and add say im no find dis acceptable again.

What next for El-Rufai?

Nasir El-Rufai say as member of di Social Democratic Party, im go focus on engaging wit and persuading oda opposition leaders and parties to join dem.

E say di plan na to gada under "a unified democratic platform to challenge di APC for all elections and bye-elections between now and 2027 by di Grace of God".

"I therefore call on all our supporters and oda pesins wey dey concerned about our kontri future to join us for SDP in di journey to make Nigeria flourish as a beacon of pride for Africans and di Black Race," di govnor add.
