आज आपण बोलणार आहोत रोजच्या प्रवासाबद्दल. आपण शाळेत जातो, ऑफिसला जातो, क्लासला जातो. अशा छोट्या प्रवासाबद्दल कसं बोलायचं ते आज शिकू. हे ऐकू.

I often walk to work but sometimes I cycle.
I drive to work. It takes one hour.
I go to school by bus. I set off at 7 o'clock.

काय लक्षात आलं यातून? लोक आपापल्या इच्छित ठिकाणी सायकलने, बसने गाडी चालवत किंवा चालत जातात. So, Sam, आपण आता यासंदर्भात कुठले शब्द कसे वापरायचे ते समजून घेऊ.

Yes, let's listen to the first person again. What two verbs does he use to talk about how he gets to work?
I often walk to work but sometimes I cycle.

इथे वापरलंय 'walk' म्हणजे चालणे आणि 'cycle'  सायकल चालवणे.

Sam
So you can say 'I walk to work or school' or 'I cycle to work or school'. Let's quickly practise that. Repeat after me:

I walk to work.  

I cycle to school.

The next person also uses a verb to say that they go by car – can you remember the verb? Let's listen again.

I drive to work.

'Drive' म्हणजे गाडी चालवणे. यात ती व्यक्ती रोज दूरवर प्रवास करते याचाही उल्लेख आलाय. ती काय म्हणाली बरं?
I drive to work. It takes one hour.

Sam
She says 'it takes one hour', so we can use the phrase 'it takes...' with a timeframe to talk about the length of a journey.

For example, 'it takes twenty minutes' or 'it takes three hours'. Let's quickly practise that. Repeat after me:

It takes one hour.

प्रवासाला किती वेळ लागतो हे सांगण्यासाठी 'it takes…वापरायचं आणि नंतर तुम्ही प्रवासासाठी कुठले साधन वापरता त्याचाही उल्लेख करायचा. शेवटी काय म्हटलंय परत ऐकू. तो शाळेत जाण्यासाठी  – 'public transport' म्हणजे सार्वजनिक वाहतूक व्यवस्थेचा वापर करतो असं तो म्हणतोय. काय म्हणाला तो ?

Yes, so with public transport, you can say 'I go to school by...' or 'I go to work by…' and then give the type of transport. 

Let's practise that. Repeat after me, please:

I go to work by bus.

I go to work by train.

I go to school by taxi.

तो घरून किती वाजता निघतो हे सांगण्यासाठी त्याने एक 'a phrasal verb'  वापरलंय. कुठलं बरं?  
I go to school by bus. I set off at 7 o'clock.

Sam
So he used the phrasal verb 'set off' which means 'begin a journey'. So we can say 'I set off at…' followed by the time we leave the house in the morning.

Let's practise. Repeat after me:

I set off…

I set off at 6 o'clock.
