Fáilte go dtí an trá ! Is mise Conall Ó Máirtín agus imrím le mo chlub áitiúil, an Eaglais, Naomh Pádraig.
Cad é mar atá tú? Is mise Bláithín Ní Mhurchú. Imrím chun tosaigh le mo chlub, Teampall an Phoirt. Inniu beidh muid ag amharc ar an dóigh leis an liathróid a bhaint d’imreoir eile, gan na rialacha a bhriseadh, ar ndóigh!
Scil iontach tábhachtach atá ann sa Pheil Ghaelach an liathróid a bhualadh ar shiúl ón fhoireann eile, nó, má tá tú ábalta, an liathróid a fháil duit féin. Tá sé sin níos fearr!
Anois, nuair atá tú ag iarraidh an liathróid a bhaint ó imreoir eile, an t-am is fearr agus an dóigh is éifeachtaí ná nuair atá an imreoir eile ag déanamh lámh go bróg nó ag preabadh na liathróide sa ruathar aonair.
Anois, seo muid! Nuair a bhíonn tú ag iarraidh an liathróid a bhaint ó imreoir eile, an chéad rud, tabhair aghaidh ar an imreoir, bíodh cos amháin rud beag chun tosaigh ar an chos eile. Coinnigh do shúile ar an liathróid, maith go leor? Lúb do dhá ghlúin agus ansin fan ar an seans leis an liathróid a fháil. Maith go leor? Anois, bain triail as.
Maith thú, a Bhrónach, bhí sé sin go hiontach. D’fhan tú ar an seans chun an liathróid a fháil, nó níos simplí arís, agus tú i do sheasamh anseo taobh leis an imreoir, bain úsáid as an lámh seo, smeach beag, gasta, glic - buail an liathróid as na lámha. Maith go leor? Maith thú.
Fan ar an seans. Anois isteach leat, sin é. Anois, a Bhrónagh, sin é, isteach leat. Fan ar an seans, isteach leat. Sin é.
Seo druil bheag leis an scil seo a chleachtadh. Déanaigí líne dhíreach agus, a Bhrónach, beidh tú sa lár. Ceart go leor? Is cóngaraí an t-am ar fad. Tá sé agat, maith thú. Coinnigh ort, maith thú! Mariosa, coinnigh ort, díreach isteach leis an liathróid. Bain úsáid as do lámh is cóngaraí.
Anois, cuimhnigh! Faigh an liathróid - ach ná déan feall.
Níl cead agat an t-imreoir a tharraingt. Níl cead agat an geansaí a tharraingt, ná imreoir a bhrú. Níl cead agat imreoir a leagan. Níl cead agat dorn a bhualadh!
Welcome to the beach! I'm Conall Martin and I play with my local club, Saint Patrick's, Eglish.
Hi I'm Blaithín Murphy. I play in the forwards for my local club, Templeport. We're here today to look at how you can tackle the ball from another player - and stay within the rules of the game.
In Gaelic football it is very important to have the skill to knock the ball away from the other team or, if possible, take possession of the ball yourself - even better!
Now, when you want to dispossess another player, the ideal opportunity and the most effective way is when your opponent is toe tapping or bouncing during a solo run.
Now, here we go! When you want to dispossess another player, the first thing, face the player, have one foot a bit further forward than the other. Keep your eyes on the ball, okay? Bend both your knees and then wait for the opportunity to get the ball. Now, have a go.
Well done, Bronagh, that was wonderful. You waited for the chance to get the ball, or easier than that even, while standing here beside the player, use this hand, a wee, crafty flick - knock the ball out of the hands. Okay? Well done.
Wait for the chance. Now in you go, that's it. Now, Bronagh, that's it, in you go. Wait for the chance, in you go. That's it.
Here's a small drill to practise this skill. Make a straight line and, Bronagh, you'll be in the centre. Alright? Nearest all the time. You've got it, well done. Keep going, good on you! Well done, Mariosa, keep going, straight in for the ball. Use your nearest hand.
Now, remember! Tackle the ball - but don't foul. You are not allowed to pull a player. You aren't allowed to pull the jersey, nor push a player. You're not allowed to trip a player. You aren't allowed to punch!
