Bláithín Ní Mhurchú is ainm dom. Is peileadóir mé le mo chlub áitiúil i gContae an Chabháin.
Cad é an chraic?! Is mise Conall Ó Máirtín agus imrím le mo chlub áitiúil i gContae Thír Eoghain. Sa seisiún seo traenála, tá muid ag foghlaim faoi na bunscileanna atá de dhíth ort mar chúl báire.
Is é an cúl báire an líne dheireanach sa chosaint - sa bhearna bhaoil ! Sula dtosaíonn muid, caithfidh cúpla rud bheith ar eolas agat. Is féidir leat miotóga a chur ort le do lámha a chosaint agus le greim maith a fháil ar an liathróid. Déan iarracht cleachtadh a dhéanamh ar thalamh bog. Tá an trá foirfe agus níl cuaillí de dhíth ort fiú!
Anois, tá ról iontach tábhachtach ag an chúl báire. An phríomhsprioc atá ag cúl báire, ar ndóigh, ná gan ligint don liathróid dul isteach san eangach! Mar atá a fhios agat féin, in amanna seo an difear idir cluiche a bhaint nó a chailleadh. Caithfidh an cúl báire an liathróid a cheapadh, greim a choinneáil uirthi, chomh maith le tumadh don liathróid agus teacht amach ar an tosaí leis an liathróid a bhlocáil. Caithfidh cúl báire bheith cliste agus scilmhar chomh maith agus an liathróid a bhogadh ar shiúl sula gcailltear seilbh uirthi.
Anois, ar dtús, cá háit a seasann tú, mar chúl báire? An chéad rud, samhlaigh go bhfuil líne dhíreach ann idir tú féin, an tosaí agus lár na liathróide. Maith go leor? Coinnigh féin i líne dhíreach leis an tosaí agus de réir mar a bhogann seisean ar dheis, bogann tusa ar clé agus dá réir sin. Agus ansin bog amach chun tosaigh, cúpla méadar ón líne i dtreo an tosaí, mar seo. Maith go leor? Maith thú.
Sin ar dóigh. Coinnigh do shúile air, sílim go bhfuil sé ag iarraidh é a chur isteach sa choirnéal. An brú uilig ar an tosaí! Tá! Sin é, coinnigh do shúile airsean. Iontach, iontach maith. Tá tú ag dul go maith anois, a Néill.
A Néill, cúpla rud eile le cuidiú leat agus tú istigh ansin ag obair mar chúl báire. Anois, bíodh do chosa leithead do ghuaillí óna chéile. Maith go leor, díreach mar sin? Agus fan ar úlla do chos, maith go leor, réidh má tá an tosaí ag teacht isteach. Anois na lámha, tá na lámha iontach tábhachtach.
Má bhíonn an liathróid ag teacht isteach ag leibhéal do chinn, nó níos airde, coinnigh cruth W ar do lámha, maith go leor, agus d’ordóga ag baint dá chéile mar sin. Agus má bhíonn an liathróid ag teacht isteach ag leibhéal do choime nó níos isle, coinnigh cruth U ar do lámha, maith go leor, agus tú réidh leis an liathróid a cheapadh. Agus rud eile, coinnigh an dá chos ar an talamh agus an tosaí ag teacht isteach agus é réidh leis an liathróid a bhualadh. Cúpla rud eile, tá a fhios agat seo tú féin, coinnigh do shúile ar an liathróid agus d’aird ar an tosaí. Maith go leor? Anois, bainfidh muid triail as arís eile.
Ar aghaidh leat, Simon. Coinnigh ort. Maith thú, Mariosa! Fíormhaith, maith thú! Fíormhaith, fíormhaith ar fad. Sin é. Déan iarracht é a cheapadh.
My name is Blaithín Murphy. I'm a footballer with my local club in County Cavan.
What's the craic? I'm Conall Martin and I play football with my local club in County Tyrone. In this coaching session we're learning about the basic skills you need to be a goalkeeper.
A goal keeper is the last line of defence in the gap of danger! Before we start there are a few things you need to know. You can wear gloves to protect your hands and to help you grip the ball. Try to practise on soft ground. The beach is perfect and you don't even need goal posts!
The goal-keeper has a really important role. The goalie's main aim, of course, is to keep the ball out of the net. As you know, this can sometimes mean the difference between winning and losing a match. A goal keeper must be able to catch, hold the ball as well as diving for the ball and blocking the ball by coming out close to the attacking player. A goal keeper also needs to be clever and skilful in getting rid of the ball quickly before losing possession.
Now, first-off where do you stand as a keeper? The first thing is to imagine there's a line between you, the attacker and the centre of the ball. Okay? Keep yourself in a straight line with the forward and as he moves to the right you move to the left and so on. And then come a few metres forward from the goal line towards the attacker. Alright? Well done.
That's really good. Keep your eyes on him. I think he's trying to put it in the corner. All the pressure's on the forward! Aye! That's it, keep your eyes on him. Very, very good. You're going well now, Niall.
Niall, a couple of other things to help you while you're in there doing goalie. Now, have your feet shoulder width apart. Okay, just like that. And stay on the balls of your feet, alright, ready if the forward is coming in. Now the hands, the hands are very important.
If the ball is coming in at your head height or above, keep your hands like a W shape, okay, with thumbs touching, like that. And if the ball is coming in at waist height or lower, keep your hands cupped in a U shape, okay, and you're prepared to catch the ball. And another thing, keep both feet on the ground as the attacking player is coming in and about to strike the ball. A few other matters, you know this yourself, keep your eyes on the ball and your focus on the forward. Okay? Now, we'll give it another go.
Go ahead, Simon. Keep going. Well done, Mariosa! Excellent, well done! Excellent, really excellent. That's it, try to catch it.
