Known as The Monk
It's hard not to like this mischievous meddler whom the Doctor encountered near a Saxon village in 1066. The Monk's plans weren't downright evil, but he took a childish delight in interfering with history. He planned to destroy a fleet of 11th Century ships with neutron grenades, an act that would ultimately foil the Norman invasion of England. William the Conqueror would not conquer the British Isles and world history would be changed forever! Although the Doctor thwarted that scheme he was too late to prevent the Monk helping stone-age man construct Stonehenge with anti-gravity devices!
The Doctor and his fellow Time Lord often talked like they were old friends, and even when their paths crossed again and the Monk tried to strand the Doctor on a bleak, barren planet, their bickering camaraderie remained intact. It's easy to believe that despite clashes of ideology, these two Time Lords shared a sneaking affection for each other.
