DT team, soggy bloggers and their poor soggier pets plus of course the DT dude, like me maybe wishing to be able to see the Aurora in real life - not just in film (Local Hero) or on Prof Cox's progs....

My friend went on a cruise through the scandinavian lakes - a Northern Lights tour, if you will.

It was cloudy and they saw NOTHING. How sad she was - AND the ship's bar was Very expensive!! Even more sadness.



I've tweeted the obvous Renaissance tune, but would like to second #6 the theme tune to Local Hero, even though it is Newcastle Utd's tune, it is a good un and a great film.

NORTHERN SKY by Nick Drake #18 also gets a big THUMBS up from me.

Off now to think of 'Jazz' related tunes that might fit nicely with the 7pm show.

Re the Northern Lights, I now wish that I had ventured outside last night, especially living up a hill, surrounded by fields and no lighting, as I may well have seen the Lights because I've seen pictures taken from people who live minutes from me, so I'm sorry I didn't brave the cold after I got back from my dog walk at 5pm!



Tonight is supposed to be better but it's mild and will no doubt be cloudy tonight!

There is an expression, see Rome (or is it Florence) before you die...in my case I have always had an urge to see the northern lights.

I think it's in the celtic blood, from my ancestors, the pillaging Norsemen.

I can't even imagine how people 1,000 years ago would have felt when they saw them. And they didn't have Professor Cox to expain it to them!

Re family members who are musicians, Mr B loves listening to music but doesn't sing or play any instruments. However, our Son is a keen keyboard player - he's one of those lucky people who are able to just listen to a piece of music and pick it up straight away. And we think he has perfect pitch - when he was quite small we used to go to the supermarket and he'd hear the scanner at the checkout 'beep' and go "that's an A sharp". No idea how he did it - I think it must be a gift.



BTW, keep meaning to ask - #41 how long are you going to be Bright New Year Brandon for?

We decided manual labour was called for so we built the Captain Jack Memorial Patio. Just outside the kitchen in a lovely sheltered spot where we can enjoy the views. It is also next to the bird feeders. Appropriate, n'est-ce-pas?



Rosie is a sad little thing but is getting lots of cuddles. The Big Blue One who looks like Les Dawson is being really sweet to her.
