Next 2 weeks very busy at work (boo). Parent's 50th wedding anniversay tomorrow and first since Dad went into care home (Alzheimers) so doing a fair bit of running about to make it a special day for Mum. Catch up as and when I can.

Well, that was a lunch break and a half. Sitting at my desk with a prawn sarnie and the BBC News site when:



"Attention, attention. A fire has been detected. Please leave the building".



Prawn sarnie abandoned. Coat thrown on. Head to fire exit.



Pause. Thinks:



We are on the 24th floor. Could be bad.



Start descending the stairs. Floor 19, right knee starts to tremble. Floor 14, left knee joins in. Floor 7 - nearly there. Floor 5 - hurrah! 1st Floor - double hurrah! Then.... Floor M5? Am I going to Exeter? M4 goes by. M3, M2, M1 - the whatsits had added a WHOLE EXTRA 5 FLOORS. I WALKED down 29 floors.



We then wait in the cold. And wait. And wait. And where we wait, I couldn't even see the burly firemen. It then takes 20 minutes of queuing to get a lift. Prawn sarnie no longer looks appealing. Need wine. Need new knees.

Afternoon all - a real late visit to today's blog. Main reason being a poorly macerater pump in the Cess Pit. If there's anything worse than a boiler not working it's got to be this.

Came very close to being swamped with nasty stuff!

Hectic morning outside school today, remember on the travel news this morn how the major road between liverpool n manchester was closed ? Well it was all being diverted through our wee town. EVERYONE was late for school (incl head teacher) which of course meant poor old lollypop lady (muggins) had to stay late to accomodate. Was like a block of ice by the time id done. Said road is well and truley gritted to within an inch of its life now (thanks council).
