Brief but life extending
Temperature in office -2 degrees C. Blog brief today. Coat and hat worn all night. Roger Royle bedsocks worn for first time in years. Mrs M likes the look.
Nigel with his Christmas cake will be lovely and filling. I've seen the recipe and the pictures-it's a winner.
Hands shaking.
Condensation frozen.
Send for the mountain rescue.
But we'll do OFFICE PARTY songs today. Tunes inspired by the annual career shortening experience that is the Christmas works do. The boss, her secretary and the photocopier. and all that.
I have now lost all feeling in my finqiwuen'9123ne

Good morning Simon, Blogpoppets et al! How are we this Winter's Day? I'll bet, as I write this, a new blog appears! (see, I'm no daft sometimes!)
Guess what?! Not only are we thawing in the Highlands, but we had rain!! Might be able to get out later, but eldest Highland lass coughed and barked all night, so is curled up on the sofa beside me. And youngest HL is a Limpet as usual, sitting in front of me at the laptop, making me keek round her!
How is the weather in your part of the country today?
Deebee ... if our post could only talk! Guess I'd best get a wiggle on with my Christmas cards!!!
Oh, can I take this opportunity to wish my Highland Mum a very happy, 'special' birthday today!! Wish I was joining her and Dad for lunch today, but hoping the roads will be clear for us journeying tomorrow!

Love the updated Dicker, Paul. Well done! Also have a smile - not sure if it is in the same place as Deevs'!
Well, that was a lunch break and a half. Sitting at my desk with a prawn sarnie and the BBC News site when:
"Attention, attention. A fire has been detected. Please leave the building".
Prawn sarnie abandoned. Coat thrown on. Head to fire exit.
Pause. Thinks:
We are on the 24th floor. Could be bad.
Start descending the stairs. Floor 19, right knee starts to tremble. Floor 14, left knee joins in. Floor 7 - nearly there. Floor 5 - hurrah! 1st Floor - double hurrah! Then.... Floor M5? Am I going to Exeter? M4 goes by. M3, M2, M1 - the whatsits had added a WHOLE EXTRA 5 FLOORS. I WALKED down 29 floors.
We then wait in the cold. And wait. And wait. And where we wait, I couldn't even see the burly firemen. It then takes 20 minutes of queuing to get a lift. Prawn sarnie no longer looks appealing. Need wine. Need new knees.

Came very close to being swamped with nasty stuff!
Hence my Three word Thursday (which I shall keep polite) - TOO MUCH BUSINESS!
On the subject of oldies for the drive home; some ideas crossed my mind, like anything by BAD COMPANY - or, on the same train of thought STAR TRECKIN' - THE FIRM.
But I think I'll plump for DIRTY WORK - STEELY DAN (which fits in nicely with the mess today)

WIDE EYED AND LEGLESS, and OPS I DID IT AGAIN
Hectic morning outside school today, remember on the travel news this morn how the major road between liverpool n manchester was closed ? Well it was all being diverted through our wee town. EVERYONE was late for school (incl head teacher) which of course meant poor old lollypop lady (muggins) had to stay late to accomodate. Was like a block of ice by the time id done. Said road is well and truley gritted to within an inch of its life now (thanks council).

BTW, I have evidence that Simon checks Twitter during the show. I tweeted earlier to tell him that the webcam was pointing at the ceiling, and later it was back to it's normal position!

It's not been the normal calm in the BP kitchen tonight - don't ask - and I must confess that I missed Revster's 3 worder. "Mea Culpa". I'll have to iThingy. Heard Deebee's though. Well done Deebee.
Well done to Paul & John.
Deebee, maybe the Michael Jackson was just coincidence? Simon didn't say it was an Office Party song. Splendid song anyway!
