Oldies that suck!
Surprisingly no waragi-style hangovers here. It wasn't the fluid but the fumes that I thought might get me in the end. Back of the cupboard time I think, only to reappear when we move house. And then get chucked. More on this today I think. Beware drinks where the ice sinks!
Listening to Chris doing his show from his house, I am reflecting on how it would have sounded from mine. Basically ok I think but interrupted by school run, packed lunch making, a discussion on paleontology and teenager compulsory TV hour (or 3). And now the travel...
Nige getting in BBQ mode tonight with 'Bloody Mary Chicken' which sounds decidedly tempting. And hopefully not just drumsticks dipped in tomato juice vodka and Worcestershire sauce cos I could have thought of that. Nige cooks up a storm after 6.
And let's go for vampires and werewolves on our oldies today as the latest Twilight movie has its premiere in London. Eclipse is the third in the Stephenie Meyer trilogy and the screaming is due to start anytime now. Thoughts below please.
Have a lovely Thursday and see you at 5.05. Or 5.06 if the newsreader so demands.

Hi Tortie.
Katy, I didn't remember I'd already asked the question so if you hadn't said, I wouldn't have realised!?! It's great that you live so close to your Mum and your post brought a wee lump to my throat. My Mum lives 300 miles away but I speak to her every night on the phone. She's quite elderly now and has vascular dementia. However, we've had a good spell for quite a while now but I still just take it a day at a time as we never know when things will change for her. I used to love shopping with her tho'. She was very honest about whether things suited me or not. Happy memories.
Deebs, I always wanted my Mum's approval too but since she's been poorly I've adjusted to a life where I can more or less please myself. It was a bit daunting at first not being able to ask her opinion but I am getting used to it. Also, since she's been poorly, she is much more accepting of a lot of things that in the past she probably wouldn't have been, possibly as she doesn't always fully understand the implications. Bless her - she giggles a lot especially if I slip a wee swear word in. Something she would never have tolerated before and something I do just to make her giggle.
Anyhoo, thank MP - it was fun. YoungestGB accompanied my colleague and I round the last two laps and just before the end he sprinted off to the finishing line so he could be there with some friends to cheer us on. I wish I had half his energy.

Don't think I'll get another chance to blog before we go... Had a bit of a nightmare morning with fraudsters trying to access our accounts- hopefully all sorted with the bank, logistics nightmare, but not what we need when we are leaving on our happy hols in two days time!! AAArrggghh!
Anyway, I would like to endorse DBB59's choice of GHOST TOWN by THE SPECIALS
So, be good everyone, be nice to one another and I'll catch up with you all in 3 wks.

I may try to pop in whilst I am away (if that isn't a contradiction in terms). Malcolm, you have a very safe and enjoyable holiday in the USA. Look forward to hearing all about it on my return. Kev, hope the house exchanges will be smooth ones!
