I LOVE Hampton Court. I remember my dad taking me there on his boat for my 21st Birthday with his then partner and my then BF. We moored up right outside Hampton Court on The Thames and had a champagne picnic. Sadly, neither dad nor his then partner are with us any more but it's a very happy memory, and one I always smile at!

It's a slow jog in my case!

LOL! I'm only at power walking rate on the treadmill at the mo.



I've just ordered (treated myself to ....) a pair of toning trainers. They promise to give me a butt to die for and shapely toned legs in weeks ......

Toning trainiers? Not heard of them, but I have 2 pairs of FitFlops, which are supposed to do the same thing. Can't say I've noticed any difference, but they do feel good to walk in (tho' not at the gym) and are very shock-absorbent, which is great for my back.

The only sort of exercise I have any interest is swimming (which I'll be doing this lunchtime). I tried the gym, but I just got bored. And it was expensive - you really have to go 2-3 times per week to get the benefit, and I just don't have the time.



I've heard fit-flops are good, Tortie.

Tortie, I'm with you, go at your own pace and don't worry about what everyone else is doing.



Deevs, I started power walking and less than a year later I progressed onto running. I run with a club; we do about 5 - 6 miles on a Tuesday and I'm usually in the middle of the slow group which I'm really chuffed with. I did a 5k race last week and came last equal but didn't mind as it was the furthest I'd run without stopping. It is quite addictive too.



Deebs, I wish I could swim - well I can but I'm not at all confident in the water and panic when I'm out of my depth. It must be so refreshing in this lovely warm weather.

Deebee - It's coz of me FantasticRolastic I'm trying to get fit! I need to keep up with him so I don't get left behind! Can't have him walking down the road with an auld blobbery of a woman on his gawjus arm!



I think the toning trainers are along the same lines as FitFlops Tortie.



Night off from gym/swim tonight, then back to it tomorrow.

I've done 2 Moonwalks - 26.2 miles power walking marathons. Both round London, in 2005 and 2007. When I did the first one, I thought "it's just a walk, I'll be fine" and it took me over 10 hours. In 2007 I trained long and hard and it took me just over 8 hours, so chuffed with that! I also did a Race For Life in 2009, which I walked rather than ran.



I like exercise but have to be in the right frame of mind.

I think the toning trainers are made by R33b*k? I've seen them advertised. I'll be interested to know if they are worth having Deevs. Well done on the moon walks - very respectable times. Once the endorphins start flowing Deevs you'll always be in the mood for exercise - as I said, it's addictive.

Thanks Gaily. I did some research on the trainers as they're not cheap - the two main brands are the ones you mention, and Sk****ers. I've gone for the latter as they came out better in the thing I read online.



And another thing .... even tho I don't go to WW anymore, I still think in "points" - is it just me!?!?!

#71 Deebee I do 2 classes and 1 gym visit per week, so I do get my money's worth. There is a pool at our gym, but because the whole thing is part of a school, there always seem to be children's swimming classes going on, and not much room for adults to swim, so my swimming is mainly confined to holidays : (
