I have to agree with most of you guys. I too have never watched S.A.T.C., either series or film/s, so not really of relevance to me. Having said that, Simon is a film critic so it IS of relevance to him, I guerss.



Perhaps it's because it's a Bank Holiday, but do i detect the noise of a barrel being scraped, judging by this week's subjects? Mind you, I can forgive Simon one off week, I guess!

The art of the electric guitar - speaking as a non-guitarist (well, I have an acoustic, managed about three chords, sore fingers, less than nimble fingers, you know the drill) it seems to me the art of the guitar is as much about what you don't play as what you do play.



Malmsteen I haven't really heard, although know of him, and would place him in the Joe Satriani camp I suppose. I bought the latter's "Surfin With The Alien" but all that fast, many notes stuff doesn't do a lot for me.



I'll side with Professor May, you can't beat a bit of Rory Gallagher. He knew where to leave space for notes to breath before the next ones are played.

Vic and Bob told a story that they had gone around to Brian May's house and Vic or Bob went to sit down in an arm chair and his bottom felt a slight twang through his tweed trousers. His bum was hovering millimitres above THE FAMOUS 'ME AND MY DAD MADE IT' RED 'USED IN EVERY QUEEN CLASSIC' GUITAR which Brian had place upright in the chair.
