Weekend

Hello there,

Today is weekend; I spent most of time to read lots of the BBCLE stuff and to write my entry. Generally speaking, it took me 2 hours to write an entry every day, excluding reading and searching and thinking. As a saying:” No pain, no gain.” I got a lot.

Weekend is the end of the week, especially the period from Friday evening through Sunday evening, or, Saturday and Sunday for short. Taiwanese culture, we don’t have such thing to combine Saturday and Sunday as a word “weekend”, and we reckon that Saturday is the 6th day of a week, and Sunday is the rest day of a week, that these two days in which most paid workers do not work.

Oppositely, the workweek varies from nation to nation; Taiwan is from Monday to Friday. As I surfed on the internet, the legal workweek in Muslim-majority is either Saturday through Wednesday, Saturday through Thursday, or Sunday through Thursday. That is to say, Friday would be a rest day. For Israelis, the workweek begins on Sunday and ends on Thursday or Friday at noon.

To an unemployed person, the definition of the workweek is every day.

Anita (Slovakia) asked me:”How much the minimum wage per month is in Taiwan?” It is $900EUR. Incidentally, the exchange rate has been up and down lately,

2008/12/20: $1 EUR =& 46.20 NT (new Taiwan dollar)

He found me through BBCLE Facebook group and told me he had applied a BBCLE student blogger on September or October, and failed to it. He said he will try it again, that is a good new to hear, Go!
