Education in the Czech Republic
To day I would like to talk about the education system in the Czech Republic.Education is the most important thing for everyone to start their contacts with society.If you are a teacher you should probably have heard about Jan Amos Comenius,the author of many wise sayings like „He,who does not care to be instructed,you shall in vain try to instruct,unless you awaken in him a fervent interest in learning“.What do you think of that sentence?Was Comenius right with his wise? I myself agree with him.Whenever you yourself don’t feel any interest for study It’s hard for anyone else to force you right?
Though Comenius lived in the 17th century he came with great ideas of education system like The school should be avaible for boys as well as for girls or the main character of a teacher is to like the children ,like their students or theoretic knowledge should be practiced …As you can see those sentences are so primitive but I wonder whether we do well with those things that were said by Comenius.By the way he is known as the instructor of the nations in numerous countries of Western and Central Europe.He tried to apply his unique ideas to practical life and teaching then put his concept of school into his Didactica-*Lack of talent can be compensated by diligence and effort by the pupil or most learning takes place in youth :P
Well,I’ll start with the youngest one-Kinder garden ^^! It’s for children from 3 years of age.My cousin is going to start his first contacts with society,social rules and ethics.The children teaches them the general principles of the alphabet and of mathematics.(just for a funny story we call those children in the garden-kinder the students of big letters .Just try to remember and imagine your first step of writing you’ll get the point haha.
After kinder garden they start elemental school .After enrolling in the nine-year elementary school ,six-year olds begin their compulsory school attendance.The school year begins on September 1st and finishes on June 30th.Though the 1st September is on Friday your school will start this day.That means you will be at school just for one day and then have weekend.And in Vietnam when It’s Friday or Thursday your school will start on Monday of the next week.Here the school yard finishes 30th June,in Vietnam It’s depends on each school.
As a common in the final year of elemental school they’ll have to choose his future occupation.So your important step starts at the age of 15.The choice depends not only on your interests but also on your performance and success at school.There are various options to be chose like to study at a secondary school(can be industrial,medical or economic)or at an art school.
One of the alternative secondary schools is grammar school,known as gymnázium in Czech.You have to get good results from the last 2 years at elemental school to take the entrance of gymnázium. There are about 2 or 3 pupils from a class of elemental school decide to continue their study at gymnázium. It’is pretty hard to pass as well as to study there but after to be managed with the graduation examination(It's always includes a graduation ball we enjoy a lot because of the special occasion when we can put on some weird clothes
The choices are really wide-ranging. You can decide whether you want to study at school with a technical, humanities , economic orientation or medical faculties. Universities and technical universities have several levels. Most of them last 3 years. After that you get a bachelor’s degree. Like in another country over the world the medical study takes the longest time. It’s 5 years for specialist and 6 years for future general doctors.
