The Angels had trailed 5-0, but in the seventh inning Anaheim's Rally Monkey made his appearance and the team responded to force a deciding seventh game on Sunday.

"It was a great ballgame," Angels manager Mike Scoscia said.

"When you have two teams that have such a passion and going after it that hard, special things can happen and tonight was one of those nights."

After six innings of shutout pitching from Russ Ortiz and home runs from Barry Bonds and Shawon Dunston, the Giants looked set to claim their first World Series title since 1954.

Dunston struck the most surprising blow of the game, curling a drive over the low fence in the left-field corner to break a scoreless tie in the fifth.

Bonds hit his fourth home run of the Series, a huge solo shot in the sixth that made it 4-0 before Kenny Lofton scored in the seventh.

But having come from behind in 43 regular season wins and four more in the playoffs, the never-say-die Angels made their move late in the game.

Spiezio began the fight back cracking a three-run homer off Felix Rodriguez to bring in Glaus and Brad Fullmer.

"I was praying 'God please get over the fence' and it seemed to take forever to go out. It is the biggest hit I ever had," said Spiezio.
