Elliott left his post on Monday in protest of Roddy Collins' sacking following The Cumbrians' 1-0 defeat at Shrewsbury on Saturday. Collins' was dismissed as a result of comments made during his post-match interview with BBC Radio Cumbria. Collins announced his intention to leave Brunton Park unless the club was sold by current owner Michael Knighton to Irish businessman John Courtenay before Wednesday. "If the club is not John's by then we will both walk away," Collins told BBC Radio Cumbria. "There is a Second Division club we will talk to about the possibility of buying that." Another coach, John Cunningham, is also believed to have resigned his position, which would leave the club with no recognised first team coaches. Youth team coach Billy Barr will step up to take charge of the team for Tuesday's Nationwide Division Three fixture at York City. |
