In a match littered with petty fouls and dismal football, the Minstermen marginally deserved victory. Swansea keeper Roger Freestone made a fine save in the 12th minute to deny Bullock. But his opposite number Alan Fettis foiled the Swans with a magnificent diving save midway through the half to halt a 30-yard free-kick from Andrew Mumford. Fettis also made two outstanding saves to deny Swans striker Mamady Sidibe from close range, before the unmarked Jones headed home the only goal of the game. Swansea: Freestone, De-Vulgt, Howard, Smith, O'Leary, Mumford, Coates, Phillips, Romo, Sidibe, Williams. Subs: Jones, Casey, Todd, Cusack, Brodie. York: Fettis, Edmondson, Brass, Jones, Wise, O'Kane, Bullock, Wood, Nogan, Mathie, Parkin. Subs: Proctor, Howarth, Fox, Brackstone, Laws. Referee: T Parkes (Birmingham) |
