Angry Collins refused to let his players back into the Brunton Park dressing-rooms at half-time following a first-half performance in which they trailed 2-0.
If the Carlisle players were expecting a warming cup of tea, they were in for a shock as Collins sent them straight back onto the pitch to spend a cold half-time. Carlise had only managed to get the game on after a call for volunteers to clear snow from the Brunton Park pitch, and Collins felt their effort was not rewarded by his players. Collins told BBC Radio Cumbria: "The players needed awake-up call. "Some fans had spent all day helping clear our pitch of snow. "Others had paid good money to stand in the freezing cold to watch us. "The players didn't respect that with enough effort." |
