Meanwhile, British number one Elena Baltacha moved through to the second round of the ITF event in Johannesburg with a 6-2 6-2 win over Vitalia Diatchenko of Russia. Baltacha will now play Katherin Woerle on Wednesday and said of her victory: "I'm really happy with the way I played. First round matches are never easy and I felt like I dealt with the heat and the attitude pretty well. I'm looking forward to playing Woerle."
