Watson, ranked 406 in the world, was partnering Julie Ditty, ranked 394

Heather Watson and her doubles partner Julie Ditty are out at the quarter-final stage of the Pelham Racquet Club Women's $25,000 Pro Circuit Challenger.

Watson, 17, and American Ditty, 31, lost to US duo Julia Cohen and Alison Riske 6-3 6-3.

In the previous round they beat second seeds Ipek Senoglu from Turkey and Belarussian Tatiana Poutchek in a tie-breaker 7-5 0-6 10-4.

Earlier this week Watson failed to qualify for the main singles draw.
