Desperques has won the Guernsey title five times |
A break of 101 helped Martyn Desperques seal the Guernsey Snooker Championship for the fifth time beating Adrian Lihou 4-0 at the North Legion. Thought to be the first ever century break in an island final, it came with Desperques already leading 2-0 as he raced to a successful title defence. Desperques said: "Only a few people have defended it, so it's nice to be recognised with them." He has now set his sights on beating the island record of Norman Whale. He said: "Looking back at past winners you can see how successful he was. I think he won 12 titles. "So having won five, it's now in the back of my mind to win 12 titles or even surpass that." Desperques will next face the Jersey champion to see if he can retain his Channel Island title as well.
